La Pointe 2012 (12x75cl)
La Pointe is on a roll after their successful 2010. This new vintage is deep in color with coffee bean, licorice and ripe, juicy plums. On the palate, the wine is filled with lush, sexy black raspberries, chocolate and a hint of coffee bean to complicate matters. 91-93 Pts

Bright and pure, with a creamy core of plum, cassis and boysenberry fruit lined with anise and sweet toast. Not overdone at all, this shows solid weight. Score range: 89-92 -JM
Drinking Window: 2015 - 2018
The 2012 La Pointe has fresh, wild berry, cranberry, incense and wild heather aromas that unfurl in the glass, a touch of black truffle emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. There is still some new oak to be absorbed, but it is well balanced with good acidity, notwithstanding what you might describe as a solid structure towards the finish. It is a very fine Pomerol, though my advice is to wait 4-5 years to get the most from Eric Monnoret's fast-improving Pomerol. Tasted March 2016.

Purple-ruby. Clean, fresh aromas of blueberry, graphite and herbs are complicated by nuances of strawberry and violet. Then dense and suave on the palate, with a slightly austere quality to the ripe red and black fruit flavors. The long, fresh finish features building sweetness and a bright mineral tang. Not particularly showy, but this is a flavorful and potentially lovely wine that seems marked by its cabernet franc.
