A successful wine, the 1990 exhibits an impressive deep black/ruby color, a spicy, rich, jammy nose, ripe, rich flavors, medium to full body, and plenty of tannin in the low acid finish. Anticipated maturity: 1996-2008.

Exquisite and profound, the Boyd-Cantenac 1992 boasts the sophistication true wine aficionados covet. This Bordeaux blend hails from the prestigious Margaux appellation, where it was meticulously curated by the venerable Chateau Boyd-Cantenac, a 3rd growth estate revered for its traditional winemaking methods. The blend was vinified in thermoregulated stainless-steel vats before embarking on 18 months of ageing in French oak barrels, enhancing its elegance and complexity. This care resulted in a deep, ruby-hued wine that decants impeccably balanced notes of dark fruits, leather and tobacco, cascading into a finish of refined tannins. With its commendable structure, the Boyd-Cantenac 1992 provides a considerable ageing potential and will reward those with the patience to cellar it. A testament to its respected terroir, this vintage captures the essence of Bordeaux viticulture, providing insight into a moment of exceptional winemaking.

    Vinous - Neal Martin (91)

The 2017 Boyd-Cantenac is noticeably deep in colour. It has a very intense bouquet with baked black cherries mixed with iodine and light violet aromas, becoming more floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, but clearly much more backward than its peers with a strong Pauillac-inspired, graphite finish. A really interesting Margaux that I am fascinated to see evolve.

    Wine Advocate (89-91)

The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Boyd-Cantenac features smoked meats, dried herbs and savory aromas over baked berries and cassis with a pencil lead hint. The palate is full-bodied with a soft texture and bags of fruit and herb sparks, finishing warm.
