Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (85)Full red-ruby. Exotic, roasted aromas of plum, spice cake and chocolate. Then fairly intensely flavored but lean and rather ungenerous. With modest flesh, the finish comes across as somewhat dry. |

Wine Advocate (89-91+)An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by notes of creme de cassis and licorice intermixed with notions of truffles and graphite. Rich, full-bodied and concentrated, the 2011 Boyd-Cantenac merits serious interest. Moreover, it often sells at a very realistic price, so readers take note. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2030. |

James Suckling (94-95)Extremely dense, fruity and full-bodied, yet it’s also tight and very refined with silky tannins and a flavorful finish. This is something in the making. Best in years. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2017 Boyd-Cantenac is noticeably deep in colour. It has a very intense bouquet with baked black cherries mixed with iodine and light violet aromas, becoming more floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, but clearly much more backward than its peers with a strong Pauillac-inspired, graphite finish. A really interesting Margaux that I am fascinated to see evolve. |

Wine Advocate (89-91)The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Boyd-Cantenac features smoked meats, dried herbs and savory aromas over baked berries and cassis with a pencil lead hint. The palate is full-bodied with a soft texture and bags of fruit and herb sparks, finishing warm. |
