Cavallotto
About Cavallotto
Cavallotto has not (yet) gained the international recognition that it is due. They were one of the early pioneers crafting single-vineyard wines in Barolo DOCG. A benchmark producer of the region in the eyes of Monica Larner (Wine Advocate), Cavallotto is a traditional family estate founded all the way back in 1948. After 4 generations of unbroken familial ownership, the estate is currently run by Laura, Giuseppe and Alfio Cavallotto.
Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis San Giuseppe is the top wine of the estate.

Wine Advocate (93)The 2004 Barolo Bricco Boschis tastes just like it did from barrel, which is to say sweet, layered and totally irresistible. The ripe red fruit is incredibly primary, and this wine is years away from offering its finest drinking, but it is already very impressive at this stage. This is an especially refined, elegant vintage for this wine, and I can only say that I await the Riservas with eager anticipation. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024. |

Vinous (96)The 2001 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe is a great choice for readers who can be patient. Freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and violets are some of the many notes that flow from this structured, powerful Barolo. The 2001 remains virile and incredibly youthful in its personality. Sweet balsamic notes develop in the glass, adding considerable depth and nuance. The San Giuseppe is a jewel of a wine with a bright, bright future. Today it is stunningly beautiful. |
