The 2020 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru could well turn out to be Dugat's finest cuvée this vintage. The nose rivets your feet to the spot with its intense oyster shell tinged red fruit that feels more composed compared to the Charmes. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, tensile and brimming with energy. There is a discrete crescendo towards its harmonious, transparent and lingering finish that you just don't want to end. Quite brilliant.

Wine Advocate (97-99)

My allegiance chez Dugat is almost always to the Griotte-Chambertin, but this year, it was the 2022 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru that dominated in our tasting. Soaring from the glass with an incipiently complex bouquet of sweet berries, cherries and plums mingled with licorice and smoke, it's full-bodied, velvety and multidimensional, with a deep core of rich, vibrant, concentrated fruit framed by beautifully refined tannins, concluding with a long, saline finish.

The 2009 Charmes-Chambertin is absolutely stunning today. Black cherries, freshly cut flowers, mint, tar, licorice and spices are woven together in a fabric of exceptional class and elegance. A flashy, extroverted finish captures the essence of the very best qualities of the year and the house style.

The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru demands a little coaxing from the glass, with dark cherries, raspberry preserve and briary aromas, gradually unfurling but never fully letting go like the Chapelle-Chambertin. The palate is very well structured with a firm backbone, quite Mazoyères-like in style, the mineralité flooding out towards the second half that displays an insistent grip and impressive length. Excellent.
