    Dauzac

This fifth growth from Margaux gives the first growths a run for its money in certain vintages, especially in the less powerful ones. Chateau Dauzac has been managed by the Andre Lurton group since 1992, and the increased attention to the fruit has produced wines that are ripe, rich and can cellar well.

    • Dauzac 2013 (12x75cl)

      Vinous - Ian D'Agata (87-90)

Opaque purple-ruby. Pungently aromatic notes of geranium, lavender, cilantro and violet dominate black fruits on the nose. Light and smooth in the mouth, with fresh black fruit flavors and better balance than the almost too perfumed nose suggests. The long finish features youthfully chewy tannins and a strong saline quality, not to mention very good juiciness.

    • Dauzac 2016 (6x150cl)

      James Suckling (94)

Blackberry, blueberry and sweet-tobacco aromas. Full-bodied, dense and layered with ripe tannins and a chewy yet polished, tannic finish. A young Bordeaux with plenty of structure and focus. A blend of 71 per cent cabernet sauvignon and 29 per cent merlot. Try after 2022.

    • Dauzac 2017 (6x75cl)

      James Suckling (92-93)

This builds on the palate with medium to full body, lots of dark fruits and a full tannins that drive the finish. Shows energy and length. Precise and transparent. Could be better than 2016?

    • Dauzac 2019 (6x150cl)

      James Suckling (94-95)

This is linear and tight with beautiful concentration of tannins and dark fruit, as well as tar and dark chocolate. Full, yet racy and long. Very solid and structured with tannins that integrate well into the wine. Better than the 2018.
