Jancis Robinson (18)Three casks from three different spots. Slightly cloudy cherry red. Really rich and solid. From a very good producer (a long-term proposition) and made in the domaine philosophy. Lots of tannin on the end. Very energetic. Very slightly bitter on the end.

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2013 Echézeaux Grand Cru (which comes from the lieu-dit of En Orveaux) has a slight reduction on the nose, but beneath lies fine redcurrant and iodine scents that should be quite intense once in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, fleshy tannins, crisp acidity and good density on the finish. This is a very fine Echézeaux in the making, though I suspect that the 2012 will be the one to seek out.

Vinous (93-95)The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a decadent bouquet of red cherry and cranberry aromas, touches of pain d’épices and a hint of menthol emerging with time. But somehow it manages to retain control. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, slightly chalky tannins, good depth and a gentle grip toward the focused finish. This should age extremely well.

Wine Advocate (94-96)The 2014 Griottes Chambertin Grand Cru has a very intense bouquet with maraschino, blueberry and violets blossoming in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit, blueberry and a hint of balsamic, leading to a quite a structured and dense finish that just needs a touch more finesse. I think that will develop with time. Superb.

Vinous (93-96)Bright, deep red. Reticent but highly complex scents of raspberry, rose petal, white pepper, red licorice and mint. At once silky and sharply delineated, conveying outstanding intensity without any undue weight. Utterly seamless Chambertin if a bit youthfully linear today. The very long, rising finish is lightly saline and classically dry. Fourrier told me he has no plans to produce more than 30% as much négociant wine as domain wine in future years.

Jancis Robinson (18+)Tank sample. Vegy edge to this makes it really interesting. Not the most concentrated Chambertin. But really fresh and racy and almost citrus! Transparent and challenging but very long and persistent and deserves lots of time – yet you could enjoy it today. Really vibrates on the palate. Very lifted – deliberately so. Transparent and a very strong statement. Rather atypical.

Vinous (94-96)The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru has a charming, quite regal bouquet with layers of crushed strawberry, raspberry and crushed iris aromas that blossom with aeration. The palate is very refined, beautifully focused with a silver bead of acidity. There is a sorbet-like freshness from start to finish, a gentle crescendo of flavours towards the blackberry, raspberry and orange zest finish that lingers persistently in the mouth. Superb.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)Medium deep red purple with a little bit of spice. Starts gently then it really swells on the palate. All is at the back of the palate with a really classy finish, perfect tension, a very elegant Chambertin.

Vinous (92-94)Medium red. Alluring floral lift to the aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, crushed stone and sexy oak. Dense, broad and energetic, with a captivating subtle sweetness to the red berry and mineral flavors. Really saturates the palate and builds on the back end, finishing with noble, fine-grained tannins. Fourrier uses the same percentage of new oak to age his négociant and domain wines--around 20%.

Vinous (93-95)Bright medium red. Less black on the nose than most of Fourrier's other 2016s, offering complex aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, crushed rock and smoky minerals. Plush and fine-grained but light on its feet, boasting terrific juicy lift; like a mouthful of crushed rocks and flowers. Youthfully tight but not hard, this wine finishes with terrific sappy energy, savory minerality and building sweetness. I would have guessed that this beauty was harvested earlier than many of Fourrier's domain wines but in fact it was picked on September 30.

Vinous (94-96)The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has an outstanding bouquet of crushed iris and incense aromas filtering through mineral-rich black fruit. Such vibrancy! The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very good acidity and a wonderfully focused finish that is top-drawer. Superb.
