Vinous (84-86)From purchased grapes in the Côte de Nuits, the 2018 Bourgogne Rouge has a slightly tarry bouquet of ripe summer fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, fine acidity and a slightly compact finish. Give it a year once in bottle. |

Wine Advocate (96)The 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques engages all of the senses with its cool, mineral-laced fruit and expressive bouquet. This shows marvelous tension and energy, not to mention fabulous overall balance. It could not be more different in style than the 2009 tasted alongside it. Both are fabulous, though. The 2008 is one of the more backward wines of the vintage and will require considerable patience. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2033. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots is rich, ripe, sensual and totally inviting. The fruit is round and very beautiful, but the wine is so young I can only imagine what might develop in the coming years. The fruit positively explodes on the finish, where floral, spiced overtones add the final layers of complexity. This is a stunning bottle in every way. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. |
