Vinous (91-94)Dark red with ruby highlights. Aromas of blueberry, raspberry, leather and game, lifted by a crushed stone element. In a supple, ripe style, but with terrific sappy intensity and lift to the crushed raspberry and mineral flavors. The tannins are fine-grained and sweet. A stunning example of this calcaire-rich premier cru. |

Vinous (91-93)Medium red; slightly hazy (all of these négociant wines were racked the week before my visit): Musky aromas of raspberry, coffee and mocha lifted by a floral element. Plush, soil-driven wine with distinct saline minerality if not the éclat of the Echézeaux. Conveys a higher-pH mouth feel. Plenty complex, though, finishing with lovely savory tannins. |

Burgundy | 1 | 93-96 (VN) | HK$23,910.00
Vinous (93-96)Bright, deep red. Reticent but highly complex scents of raspberry, rose petal, white pepper, red licorice and mint. At once silky and sharply delineated, conveying outstanding intensity without any undue weight. Utterly seamless Chambertin if a bit youthfully linear today. The very long, rising finish is lightly saline and classically dry. Fourrier told me he has no plans to produce more than 30% as much négociant wine as domain wine in future years. |

Burgundy | 2 | 92-94 (VN) | HK$11,135.00
Vinous (92-94)Medium red. Alluring floral lift to the aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, crushed stone and sexy oak. Dense, broad and energetic, with a captivating subtle sweetness to the red berry and mineral flavors. Really saturates the palate and builds on the back end, finishing with noble, fine-grained tannins. Fourrier uses the same percentage of new oak to age his négociant and domain wines--around 20%. |

Burgundy | 1 | 93-95 (VN) | HK$29,420.00
Vinous (93-95)Bright medium red. Less black on the nose than most of Fourrier's other 2016s, offering complex aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, crushed rock and smoky minerals. Plush and fine-grained but light on its feet, boasting terrific juicy lift; like a mouthful of crushed rocks and flowers. Youthfully tight but not hard, this wine finishes with terrific sappy energy, savory minerality and building sweetness. I would have guessed that this beauty was harvested earlier than many of Fourrier's domain wines but in fact it was picked on September 30. |
