Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)The 2022 Beaune Teurons 1er Cru is fully de-stemmed for the first time. This leans more towards red fruit on the nose, though maybe because of the lack of stems, it doesn't quite have the personality or freshness as the Tuvilains. The palate is well-balanced with lively red fruit and good depth, and the 35% new oak neatly integrated with fine depth on the finish. I feel it will improve with time in bottle.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-92)All destemmed, and now racked to tank, after 25% new wood. A fine bright crimson purple, with lifted fruit, showing both energy and balance. I like Savigny in 2022. Typical briary red fruit with well-integrated tannins. Fair length. Drink from 2030-2035. Tasted: December 2023.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)This vineyard is worked by horse. 20% whole bunch vinification, 30% new wood. Dark purple with a little reduction. There is fine potential here too, in a liquid dark raspberry style, long on the palate, some sun dried cherries, but without the alcohol and excess of 2020. Good wine. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted: December 2023.

Vinous (91-93)The 2018 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru is matured with 30% whole bunch and 50% new oak. It has a very attractive bouquet of brambly red fruit, rose petals and light undergrowth aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers a dash of white pepper on the opening. Well balanced, with quite a structured and serious finish. Excellent.

Vinous (91-93)The 2019 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru I includes 50% whole bunch and 30% new oak. Pascal Marchand said that this is an example of "infusion" winemaking, not seeing many punchdowns during cuvaison. The bouquet is very perfumed; cracked black pepper and tertiary aromas slightly occlude the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, leading to an elegant, peppery finish. Very much a lighter style from Tawse. I am not sure it has long-term potential but that is a moot point as it is so delicious.

Vinous (91-93)The 2020 Beaune Teurons 1er Cru contains 25% whole bunch with 20% new oak. There was a bit of reduction on the nose here, but the palate is lively and expressive with candied red berry fruit, orange zest and fine mineralité. This should turn into a very delicious Beaune but it will need time.

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Beaune Teurons 1er Cru comes across a little subdued on the nose but it opens in the glass, with red fruit, touches of black pepper, becoming quite floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine weight, lively red fruit with a touch of spice on the finish. Very fine.

Vinous (91-93)(40% vendange entier; this vineyard at 400 meters was harvested on October 4, with a normal crop level): Dark red with ruby tones. Sexy, wild Gevrey perfume combines black raspberry, game and earth. Silky on entry, then firm and masculine in the middle palate, with its concentrated flavors of dark berries, licorice and gibier displaying a welcome touch of sweetness. Finishes with ripe tannins and excellent palate-saturating length.

Vinous (93)The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru seems to be fulfilling the promise it showed from barrel. Elegant and very pure on the nose, it unfurls with those same brambly red berry fruit scents, tinged with potpourri and wilted rose petal. The palate conveys that sense of transparency, filigreed tannins framing pretty red fruit, and shows decent grip on the finish. I can see this maturing with style.

Vinous (94-96)The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru contains 20% whole bunch with 50% new oak. There is a very tiny reduction here but there is plenty of red berry fruit with touches of orange pith. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, very cohesive and fine tuned towards the pixelated finish. Very long, very finessed.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)Domaine. Four barrels, one new, 25% whole bunch. Picked 28th September, so towards the end. A gorgeous glowing fresh crimson purple. A light reduction on the nose, but not enough to hide the fruit. An ethereal style of pinot with light cherry and alpine strawberry notes. Very enticing. Extremely harmonious all the way through. Quite lovely, with the whole bunches adding an extra note at the finish.

Vinous (92-94)The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru has the best aromatics of Tawse’s white with delineated, mineral-driven citrus fruit that blossoms in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with fine delineation, citrus fresh with touches of orange zest and nectarine towards the finish that has plenty of energy. Excellent.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)A domaine wine, badly hit by the frost. Clear bright colour, a light barrel toast but clearly with interesting fruit beneath. There is quite some concentration on the palate especially at the back, with yellow plum and pear fruit, a good thread of acidity and persistence.

Burghound (89-91)Pretty and airy aromas are compared mostly by red currant, rose petal and discreet anise and newly turned earth nuances. There is noticeably better volume and mid-palate density to the utterly delicious medium weight flavors that terminate in a lightly stony, firmly austere and much more structured finale.

Burghound (91-93)This is also elegant, perfumed and very floral with its pretty blend of red currant, cherry, anise and violet-scented nose. There is lovely tension and minerality suffusing the rich, focused and surprisingly powerful flavors that brim with dry extract on the beautifully long, firm and youthfully austere finish. This is excellent and easily the best of the Tawse wines from the Côte de Beaune. Very much worth considering. (91-93)/2031+

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (89-92)Black centre, purple rim. 50% whole bunch with two new barrels in seven. The alcohol shows through a bit on the nose. Racked and assembled. Impressive density here, even with some intense red fruit backing the blacker notes. The power takes it out of a classical Volnay but is still a good wine for those who are OK with the extra intensity. Tasted: November 2021
