Chateau Marojallia is named after the Roman term for the Margaux region. This boutique left bank estate is part of the new wave of micro-cuvee winemakers. Philippe Porcheron’s debut vintage was in 1999 with Michel Rolland as consultant oenologist since 2000. This wine shows real ageing promise.
Wine Advocate (91)This small garage operation is run by Jean-Luc Thunevin and his partner, Murielle Andraud. The deep purple-colored 2001 reveals a lovely perfume of acacia flowers, melted licorice, graphite, creme de cassis, and blueberries. Medium-bodied with tremendous purity, a layered texture, it is surprisingly light on its feet. This brilliant example of terrific winemaking is one of the stars of the appellation in 2001. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016.HK$7,765.00
Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (89-92)Good medium ruby. Pure aromas of blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate. Sweet, pliant and fleshy, with a fairly high pH feel for a Medoc wine from this vintage. But the black fruit flavors are nonetheless juicy. Finishes with rich tannins that dust the entire palate. Contrary to popular belief, owner Philippe Forgeron has made this wine since 2001; Muriel Thunevin was responsible for the 1999 and 2000 vintages.HK$5,745.00
