Burghound (92)A lightly spiced nose of red currant cassis and violet aromas is trimmed in soft wood notes that precede the supple and moderately well-concentrated yet relatively fine medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent depth and length in a well-balanced package. Like its 2010 counterpart it is only on the finish does the robustness of a classic Nuits arrive and overall, this is really fine juice with excellent cellaring potential. |

Vinous (91)Good medium red. Sexy, complex aromas of ripe plum, redcurrant, cedar, spices and rose petal. Supple, plump, dry and saline; classically backward wine but with a surprisingly pliant texture for the year. Strong, almost peppery acidity is nicely buffered by intense red fruits. Finishes with sexy sweetness and length. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots has turned out brilliantly, bursting from the glass with aromas of cassis, black plums and cherries mingled with hints of spices, orange rind and violets. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids, ripe tannins and a generous core of fruit, it confirms that Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg performed especially well in the 2018 vintage. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has the most expressive aromatics of the three wines that I tasted from the appellation at Domaine Mugneret. Only half the number of barrels were produced this year due to very small bunch weight. This has vibrant red berry fruit, wild strawberry, shaved black truffle and light crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, quite taut and more linear than the Les Vignes Rondes, and certainly with greater tension toward the saline finish. Excellent. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru suffered quite a lot during the summer according to Christine because of the dryness. Nevertheless, it has an exquisite bouquet with beautifully defined, minerally red fruit that seems to blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, an almost citric bead of acidity with a lively and sustained finish. Wonderful. |

Wine Advocate (89-91)From vines just behind the maison towards the Route Nationale, the 2013 Vosne Romanée has a precise bouquet, dark berries and a touch of black tea, fine delineation here and poise. The palate is medium-bodied and displays good weight in the mouth. It does not quite have the complexity of the 2012 on the finish, but still, this will be a delicious Vosne-Romanée. |

Vinous (89)Bright ruby-red. Very expressive aromas of cherry, smoky minerals and coffee. Lovely silky, spicy, mineral-driven village wine with intense flavors of dark cherry, raspberry and chocolate, plus a hint of menthol. Still needs a couple years to absorb its dusty, slightly chocolatey tannins. Dry and classic. |

Vinous (89-91)The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village comes from three or four parcels within the commune. It has slightly darker fruit compared to the La Colombière, perhaps not quite as pixelated in style. The palate is fleshy and forward with succulent ripe tannins, good density and layer of raspberry, strawberry and spicebox toward the finish. Just a delicious Vosne-Romanée. |

Vinous (86-88)The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village comes from all the domaine’s parcels except for La Colombière. This has a fragrant bouquet of rose-petal-tinged dark berry fruit; the 40% new oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. A little pinched at the moment, but it will flesh out with aeration. Fine. |

Vinous (95)The 2011 Clos-Vougeot comes across as deep, powerful and also closed in on itself. Here the flavors are beautifully centered and polished throughout. Fine, crystalline tannins support the bright, delineated finish. The 2011 is a rare Clos Vougeot that is both finessed and powerful. The bright, saline finish is hard to resist. |

Vinous (96)Dark red cherry, plum, spices, menthol and licorice all flesh out in the 2011 Echézeaux, a powerful, incredibly inviting Burgundy loaded with class and personality. Layers of dark, deeply spiced fruit blossom in the glass as the 2011 shows off its pure volume. The Echézeaux boasts fabulous extract and serious concentration. This is a marvelous Burgundy built for the cellar. Today, the 2011 is every bit as magnificent as it was from barrel. |

Vinous (93-95)(from the estate's two parcels in Les Rouges du Bas and Les Quartiers de Nuits, both of them frosted in 2016; just 17 hectoliters per hectare produced): Deep ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, licorice and flowers, plus a note of black pepper. Offers incredible concentration to its flavors of blackberry syrup and savory minerality, conveying an almost liqueur-like ripeness for a dry wine. Painfully intense in the early going but the big tannins are buffered by the wine's impression of extract. This wine will need extended cellaring to absorb its penetrating saline minerality. I can understand why Marie-Christine Mugneret presented this wine last. |
