    Napanook

    About Napanook

p>Napanook Vineyard has been the oldest and greatest source of fruit for the finest Napa Valley wines since the 1940s and 1950s. In 1982 Christian Moueix, better known for his work in Pomerol with family-owned properties like, Petrus, Trotanoy and La Fleur Petrus, fell in love with Napa and began to farm and redevelop the Napanook Vineyard.

Together with Dominus winemaker Tod Mostero, owner Christian Moueix produce two wines that both reflects the two sides of this historical terroir. On the southern side of Napanook vineyards, the grapes ripen three to five days before the northern side. They produce a wine that is expressive and full of red berry aromas and that gives the Napanook cuvée. The fruits on the northern side will turn into a wine that is more mysterious, with more aromas of dark berries; this is the iconic Dominus wine.

    James Suckling (96)

This is a flamboyant red that offers hazelnuts, dark berries and a hint of chocolate. Full-bodied with round and soft tannins. So fresh. So rich, enticing and layered. A blend of 84 per cent cabernet sauvignon, nine per cent petit verdot and seven per cent cabernet franc. Delicious now. Drink or hold. April 2019 release.
