Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles wafts from the glass with a lovely bouquet of cassis, plums, dark chocolate, grilled squab and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly layered and complete, it's muscular but refined, with a rich chassis of ripe tannin and an ample core of fruit, concluding with a long, perfumed finish. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Chaignots comes from 1.55 hectares of 60-year-old vines. It has a well defined, slightly masculine bouquet that requires some encouragement. Darker fruit here than the Village Cru, yet still detailed. The palate is brisk and lively on the opening, quite citric in the mouth, darker fruit than say, Mugneret-Gibourg's own Les Chaignots -- but with a brightness and lucidity coming through on the playful finish. Very fine. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières was showing especially well, mingling aromas of cassis and dark chocolate with savory nuances of loamy soil and grilled squab in an incipiently complex bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's lively and precise, with terrific tension despite the richness and power of the vintage. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Roncières 1er Cru, which was affected by hail, had just a small reduction on the nose. The palate is easier to read with attractive, quite tensile red cherry and blueberry fruit. The oak is nicely integrated here and there is a sorbet-like freshness on the finish that has plenty of joie-de-vivre. It’s a wine that almost says...what hail? |

Decanter (95)Les Vaucrains is marked by its proximity to the combe at the southern end of Nuits-St-Georges, which gives the wine an added lift of freshness. Like Les St-Georges which abuts it, this is quite a firm, shuttered wine with an overlay of 30% new wood, good concentration, fine tannins and enough backbone and acidity to age. |

Vinous (85-87)The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Village has quite high-toned bouquet with fig-tinged black cherry fruit. The palate is sweet and candied, a little confit like, something almost Tuscan about the finish. Still, enjoyable, if not exactly Pinot-like, hence my parsimonious score. |
