Wine Advocate (95)Half of the fabulous 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee les Origines was aged in new barriques, the rest in concrete vats, so there is some oak in play here, but the blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah has absorbed much of it. This full-bodied wine is tannic and rich, with fruit shading from cherries and red plums all the way through to plum and cola. Mocha and baking spices appear on the long, velvety finish. |

Wine Advocate (97)The 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Vieilles Vignes derives from parcels planted on classic clay and galets roulés soils. It's 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and 5% other varieties. Tight, intense, even clenched, it's in need of several years' cellaring before it becomes truly enjoyable to drink. For now, those gorgeous black cherries are restrained behind a firm wall of tannins. Full-bodied and rich, this is ripe, it just requires patience. |

Wine Advocate (96)Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Marquis d'Alesme Becker leaps from the glass with gregarious notions of plum preserves, crème de cassis and Black Forest cake with hints of potpourri, star anise, menthol and tapenade. Full, rich, firm and grainy, with fantastic freshness lifting the densely packed palate, it has a long, beautifully fragrant finish. |

Burgundy | 1 | - | HK$6,895.00 | |||||
The Philippe Pacalet Ladoix Rouge 2021 is one of the Jacks of the wine industry, hailing from Burgundy, France. Dedicated to preserving the integrity of the terroir, Pacalet employs organic farming methods and natural vinification techniques. Hand harvesting, native yeast fermentation and minimal intervention during the winemaking process allow each bottle to offer the truest expression of its vineyard origin. This vintage delights with its vivid palate of red fruits, tempered by an impressive, earthy complexity. Ageing in French oak barrels adds a subtle layer of toasty nuances, which beautifully complement its strong acidity and medium body. A harmonious blend of 100% Pinot Noir grapes, the Philippe Pacalet Ladoix Rouge 2021 exemplifies elegance and finesse, making it a must-have for serious collectors and wine connoisseurs. Its structure and balance also suggest excellent ageing potential, promising greater depth with years of cellar ageing. The Philippe Pacalet Ladoix Rouge 2021 is definitely a noteworthy tribute to its Burgundian roots and is well worth exploring. |

Wine Advocate (90)The 2018 Cotes du Rhone is 100% Syrah, sourced from the Gard (on the right bank of the Rhône) and Vinsobres (left bank, higher elevation). Violets, black olives and cassis and blueberry flavors provide terrific varietal expression in a medium to full-bodied package framed by silky tannins. Depending on your local pricing (I've seen it for as little as $12.99 or as much as $20), it should be a terrific value. |

The Wine Independent (99)The 2019 Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge comes from terroir composed of 60% gravel and 40% clay and is a blend of around 2/3 Cabernet Sauvignon and 1/3 Merlot with a splash of Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it needs considerable swirling to unlock notes of blackcurrant preserves, stewed plums, and juicy blackberries, with hints of candied violets, licorice, espresso, and tapenade, plus wafts of crushed rocks and wood smoke. Full-bodied, rich, and opulent in the mouth, it has very firm, super-ripe, fine-grained tannins and bold freshness to support the voluptuous, mineral-accented fruit, finishing very long and achingly perfumed. |
