It needs a lot of swirling to bring out notions of chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries, and crème de cassis, followed by hints of tar, violets, redcurrant jelly, and tilled soil, with a waft of black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate is very tightly wound, with lots of mineral, red berry, and black fruit layers intertwined to offer an incredibly complex, yet beautifully poised, experience. The tannins are super fine-grained and the tension gives an incredible finish with a minerally swing. Wow: it's a pure, effortless, truthful wine. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97+)I also loved the 2016 Pinot Noir Arrendell Vineyard. Located in the Russian River and planted in 1975 to a heritage Martini Clone, this cool site struggles to ripen, giving this 2016 an exotic, complex, vibrant style along with its ample red and black fruits, candied violets, potpourri, and sandalwood. It’s one of the more vibrant, racier wines in the lineup, yet its acidity is nicely integrated, it’s flawlessly balanced, and it has a great, great finish. Give bottles a year or two and enjoy over the following decade. |

Jeb Dunnuck (98)The 2018 Pinot Noir Far Coast Vineyard comes from a site not far from the Pacific Ocean, in the Sonoma Coast AVA, and it's one of the bigger, richer wines in the lineup in 2018. Deeper ruby-hued, with a stunning nose of ripe mulberries, Bing cherries, candied strawberries, spring flowers, and orange blossom, this is a spicy, medium to full-bodied, impressively concentrated Pinot Noir. Despite being from a cooler vineyard, it brings plenty of richness and sexy fruit, with a certain exotic character. I've always loved this cuvée (although I've always thought the Chardonnay was slightly more successful), but this might be the finest vintage I've tasted to date. Count me impressed. It's going to have 10-15 years of prime drinking. It's one of the finest Pinot Noirs in this report. |

Wine Advocate (97)The 2018 Chardonnay Seascape Vineyard was 100% barrel fermented in French oak barrels, 26% new, and aged for 14 months. It needs a little coaxing to reveal restrained notes of lemon meringue pie, lime leaves, struck flint and wet pebbles with touches of coriander seed, orange blossoms and yuzu zest. Medium-bodied, the palate is very crisp, intense and pure with loads of citrus and stone-inspired flavors, finishing very long and zesty. This tight-knit beauty is going to be incredible in another year or two and will drink well for at least 10+ years. 270 cases were made. |

This needs time but should emerge from the cellar gloriously in 2-3 years! 337 cases produced. |
