White Bordeaux fans, get your coat; you've scored. The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Abstract is a gorgeous, rich, full-bodied mouthful of intensely concentrated barrel-fermented Sauvignon. This is curvy, suave and sophisticated. Its ripe blackcurrant and fennel aromas meet lees-derived savory notes and nutty oak characters (aged in puncheons, 15% new). The 2021 has substance as well as fine acidity that provides mouthwatering refreshment. Its long finish is laced with layers of fragrance and texture. This has the componentry to age well, but it's delicious now, so why would you wait?HK$3,135.00 -

A perfumed, complex bouquet with aromas of roses and ripe cherry, a soft raw sugar and baking spices scent with a core of silty soil minerality. Equally complex with a firm yet finely textured mouthfeel, harmonious synergies between fruit, minerality, tannins and acidity. With each taste the complexity expands with flavours of cherry and plum, forest berries and wild flowers. A Grand Cru level wine with a delicious, layered, perfumed, youthful and long. Best drinking from late 2022 through 2030+.HK$2,005.00 -

Seamless pinot noir with a subtle savoury edge and flavours that suggest red fruits/raspberry, vanilla, fresh herbs and spicy French oak. Nicely balanced wine with good cellaring potential and an impressively lengthy finishHK$1,405.00 -

Seductive and well-judged ‘reductive’ (smoky, struck-match) aroma and really toasty as it opens up, something cedary. Very Coche Dury but, most importantly, there is the fruit intensity to carry off this winemaking style. Nutty, creamy, mealy citrus. So many things going on that it makes you slow down to try to enjoy all this complexity. Deep, deliciously fresh and incredibly persistent with an aftertaste of savoury/mineral citrus. Worth every penny of its NZ price of $45 (from the producer's website). Classy and got better and better over the few days post opening.HK$2,490.00 -

The 2021 Chardonnay Reed Vineyard is pure, harmonious and suave, caressing the mouth with its gentle texture and purity. It's not showy but a wine worth getting to know: it provides cognitive and sensory pleasure. You can expect almond, oatmeal, smoky nuts and party popper aromas. Yes, party poppers. I really love the smell of party poppers, so I want to keep smelling this and having a little party shimmy. Pure and textural with a gourmand character that will make you want to lick your cheeks to keep tasting it. Already good; this is going to be great.HK$1,850.00 -

Weighty, mouth-filling chardonnay with grapefruit, saline/oyster shell, lime zest, nutty yeast lees and a suggestion of sizzled butter. Great without the complication of food but even better with my hot-smoked salmon.HK$2,800.00 -

'Outstanding'. A powerful and distinctive bouquet with a core complexity built around ripe red berry fruit, a natural savoury dried herb complexity, a gentle sweetness of oak and baking spice scents to match, there’s density and richness alongside power and finesse. A powerful youthful energy as the wine touches the palate transitioning smoothly through berry flavours, the savoury seam and textures from tannins and acidity. Delicious, youthful and full of pinosity. A lovely expression, complex and lengthy. Best drinking from 2022 through 2030+.HK$1,710.00 -

The 2020 Pinot Noir Settlement Vineyard is unforced and aromatically enticing. This is ripe, textural and satisfying, yet there's tension on the finish that draws it out thanks to whole clusters in the ferment. While red and plum fruit still dominate the aromatics, this veers towards savory with dried herbs and delicate festive spices.HK$3,085.00 -

A very burgundian-style Pinot Noir with floral, cherry and sweet, sappy flavours. Remarkably approachable despite a solid backbone of tannins, which are ripe and soft. Elegant wine with power and intensity. Super-stylish wine that is distinctive and very appealing. I love it.HK$840.00 -

Wine Advocate (94)
The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc marks the 40th vintage for this estate in Marlborough, and the wine leads with green apple, a salsa verde-esque note (think green chilli, coriander, lime, etc.) and white pineapple. In the mouth, the wine is punchy and crunchy, with loads of acid, but there is also attractive, chalky texture on the mid-palate. It's a smart wine, as usual. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.HK$1,287.00 -

The 2020 Section 94 is today five years from its harvest, and it shows a preponderance of yellow fruits, exotic spices, layers of cloves, star anise and fennel, with white cloth and beeswax. It's a powerful, tightly coiled wine of great length and complexity. These evolve favorably in the future, so drinking the estate Sauvignon Blanc in its youth is recommended, while you allow this to age and settle. This is a very impressive wine. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.HK$1,925.00 -

The Old Vine Riesling F-Series range always provides a rich depth of fruit and savory substance, and the 2023 doesn't disappoint. It's fully dry and firm. While it may not have the sweet, juicy charm of off-dry Riesling, instead it has a bitter orange-like flavor and a phenolic texture that will appeal to Riesling nerds and Italian aperitivo drinkers alike. Intense and concentrated with ripe yet serious acidity, its orange marmalade and celery flavors linger long.HK$3,255.00 -
