Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)
(5 Star Wine) Fresh purple of medium depth. Much the liveliest bouquet with its concentration of raspberries, very complete and absolutely delicious. The finish continues gorgeously, this will make a beautiful bottle with a little patience. This Clos des Ursules shows the classic peacock’s fantail of aromatics.HK$4,130.00 -

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru showed more reduction on the nose compared to the Bonnes-Mares: brambly red fruit, Earl Grey, and light forest floor aromas blossom in the glass. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins, velvety smooth with maraschino cherries, marmalade and touches of fresh fig. This is quite exotic towards the finish. By direct comparison, the aforementioned Grand Cru has a little more composure and restraint and perhaps handled the warmth of the growing season better. Still, it's a lovely Amoureuses.HK$9,455.00 -

Frédéric Barnier notes that Fuées does not suffer in the dry years whereas the clay in Baudes can block the water supply. A clear pure crimson purple. The nose has charm and elegance with fruit on the palate better balanced than Baudes. It is not a hugely demonstrative wine, but there is a coherent elegance throughout. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted: October 2023HK$2,810.00 -

The 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a perfumed, very floral bouquet with wilted rose petals and touches of lavender, complementing the vivacious red fruit. It is an archetypal Echézeaux. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and a fine bead of acidity. It’s quite peppery towards the finish, so you might misconstrue it as containing some whole bunches. Very satisfying complexity on the finish; this is an excellent Eche.HK$15,165.00 -

No deeper in colour than its stable mates but broader in bouquet, offering a fleshy white fruit. The balance here is impeccable on the palate, with fine acidity behind that supports the generosity of fruit. A good example. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted: October 2023.HK$2,270.00 -

A little more power to the nose ahead of its stablemates Charmes and Genevrières, indeed much more backward. The talent of Perrières is to have this enormous weight of fruit while delivering also a crystalline minerality. This has an impressively broad density of fruit behind, the detail not yet being expressed. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: October 2023.HK$2,610.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)
Pale in colour, the nose displaying a slight green hazelnut reduction which is not at all unpleasant. Indeed, it adds tension to the wine. There is impressive weight on the palate, some concentrated plum and greengage, good acidity. This still needs more elevage but shows promise. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: October 2023.HK$3,485.00 -

The 2022 Musigny Grand Cru does not hold back with a multi-layered nose of wild strawberry, raspberry, forest floor, pain d'épice and a light ash-like scent. Very absorbing and beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins. Impressive depth and grip, as you would expect from a Musigny, with a touch of white pepper and orange rind towards the finish. Very long. It will require 8 to 10 years in bottle, but it's certainly worth the wait.HK$22,750.00 -

Burghound (89)
Ripe yet fresh and bright aromas are comprised by notes of citrus, sea breeze and more prominent mineral reduction nuances along with an interesting hint of honey. There is better volume if less refinement to the denser and vibrant medium weight flavors that flash focused power on the lightly stony, rich, delicious and zest-inflected finale. This too would benefit from developing better complexity so a few years of keeping should prove helpful.HK$1,660.00 -

There is complexity on the nose, weight and concentration on the palate, along with great acidity, all combined with the ripeness of fruit and mineral notes on the finish. Just bottled but still showing beautifully. Manager Guillaume Michel notes that his Montée de Tonnerre is 100% from Chapelot. This is a south-facing, homogenous parcel from the bottom of Chapelot to the mid-level.HK$2,240.00 -

(from Montmains proper). This is aromatically similar to the straight Chablis with the addition of pretty floral top notes. The finer, and not quite as fleshy, medium-bodied flavors exude more evident minerality on the nicely energetic flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finale. This appealingly dry but not really austere effort could also use better depth so a few years of cellaring should be beneficial.HK$1,870.00 -

From another court-noué-impacted parcel that produces relatively small yields—35 hectoliters per hectare, to be precise—the 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Séchets is exhibiting notes of white flowers, lemon peel and beeswax mingling with oyster shell. It is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and racy, with a long, pungently intense finish. Together with Butteaux Vieilles Vignes, it’s one of the highlights of Michel’s premiers crus.HK$1,680.00 -

(from vines between 35 and 50 years of age evenly divided between parcels of Mélinots, Châtains and Roncières). A touch of reduction blurs the nuance of the markedly more floral-suffused nose that reveals additional notes of shellfish and just sliced citrus. The sleek, well-detailed and more refined middleweight flavors aren’t as powerful or rich yet I like the balance and overall sense of harmony. This understated effort is a Vaillons of finesse.HK$1,935.00 -
Decanter (95)
The vines here are aged between 50-80 years, and are planted on deep brown clay soil, interspersed with pebbles. A lovely example of Grenouilles, fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks only with some lees contact. Precise, focused and already very expressive, direct acidity but lots of purity. Will be bottled in May 2024 after 18 months or more.HK$3,670.00 -

The 2022 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru comes from two parcels on the north-facing part of the climat, 60- and 70-year-old vines. It has a poised and focused bouquet with hints of white peach and praline infusing the minerally scents. Very composed and understated at first before gaining more intensity. The palate is well-balanced with tangy marmalade and quince, lovely depth and cohesion, equidistant between classicism and the generous, almost tropical nature of the 2022 vintage. Highly recommended.HK$3,505.00 -
