Margaux

Margaux, the largest AOC in Médoc, is a significant wine appellation in Bordeaux with 20 Cru Classé properties from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, more than any other Left Bank AOCs. The region is home to the world-renowned Château Margaux, along with other blue-chip wineries like Château Palmer and Château Rauzan Ségla. Margaux's soils have a high gravel content, offering excellent drainage and low nutrient levels compared to Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe. This unique terroir produces refined and elegant wines that are distinct from other regions of Bordeaux.

We are proud to offer a diverse selection of Margaux wines, each with its own unique character and flavor profile. From the rich and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon blends to the silky and smooth Merlot-dominant wines, our Margaux wines are crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail. Experience the elegance and refinement of Margaux wines today. Browse our selection and discover why Margaux is considered one of the greatest wine appellations in the world.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)

The 2019 Monbrison is classy, polished and elegant, just as it was in barrel. Crushed flowers, sweet berries, spice, mint and sweet pipe tobacco give this understated, expressive Margaux an air of finesse that is unmistakable.

The 2020 Monbrison is a beautiful wine. Savory and pungent in the glass, the 2020 exudes terrific aromatic intensity, with plenty of floral, spice, black pepper and dried herbs. The 2020 is vibrant and maybe just a bit firm, but not in an unpleasant way. Monbrison is a wine that demands the taster's attention. It certainly has mine.

The 2021 Monbrison is a very pretty, perfumed Margaux marked by strong aromatics and fine balance, in the classic, mid-weight style of the year. Dried leaves, tobacco, blood orange, cedar and mint lend notable presence throughout.

Smoky red and black fruits, spicy wood, tobacco, and incense notes emerge from the 2022 Château Monbrison, a classy, complete, medium to full-bodied Margaux. I love its overall balance, and it has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as polished tannins. Based on 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in barrel, give it 3-5 years and enjoy over the following 15+.

What a wine. It was almost Burgundian at first with its floral and strawberry aromas and flavors. There were roses and lilacs as well. This is always an elegant and classy bottle. Full body, with a balanced tannin structure that is ultra-refined. It caresses every inch of your palate. Such class. This is a wine that should be decanted and drunk immediately.

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (95)

Nose a little more subdued than the 2000, but this has the truffle, rosebud and woodsmoke combination of a Palmer that is at a perfect moment to share. Loganberry, raspberry, tobacco leaf, peony, mint leaf, the tannins are finessed and finely spun, tracing the outline of the fruit but not constricting it in any way. Waves of aromatics through the palate keep you hooked, this is nuanced, elegant, moreish, with so much Margaux appellation charater, and a juicy finish. Harvest September 29 to October 11. 60% new oak.

Wine Enthusiast (94)

With its usual high proportion of Merlot, Palmer 2003 was always going to be a generous, very ripe wine. And so it is proving, but what is so satisfying about the wine at this stage is that the great sweet fruit, which comes right out of the glass. Underneath, of course, there are tannins, so this wine could be drunk soon, and then aged for another 15 years. Imported by Diageo Chateau & Estates.
