Expressive nose filled with softly perfumed red fruit with touches of blackcurrant and black cherries. Great acidity, prominent and clear giving such freshness on the palate. Feels quite delicate, lightly framed, not a huge volume in the mouth but still densely flavoured. Each element is well presented with integrated tannins and a lovely vein of almost creamy mint chocolate-laced blackcurrants and a wet stone minerality that lingers.HK$3,020.00 -

Immerse yourself in the prestige and elegance of Bonalgue 2010, an extraordinary Pomerol hailing from a small village in Bordeaux, France. This exquisite, finely-structured vintage conveys the dedication and mastery of Château Bonalgue, renowned for its authentic, traditionally crafted wines. The high percentage of Merlot brings forward a delicately fruit-forward profile, while Cabernet Franc provides structured tannins and a supple, persistent finish.
The grapes, grown in the vineyard's unique gravelly clay-laden soils, undergo traditional vinification in thermoregulated stainless-steel vats, facilitating a slow and balanced fermentation that fully expresses the terroir. The Bonalgue 2010 also basks in 18 months in French oak barrels; a subtlety adding depth, complexity and gentle cigar box notes to its profile. Reputable sources like Decanter beautifully describe this '2010 as an alluring blend of finesse and power with remarkable ageing potential, thus a great option for collectors and enthusiasts venturing into Pomerol. A true embodiment of the famous ‘Bonalgue’ signature style.

The 2014 Bonalgue is ripe, racy and voluptuous, all of which make it pretty hard to resist. Dark red cherry, espresso, grilled herbs, French oak and menthol caress the palate. All the elements have come together beautifully in this overt, flamboyant yet midweight Pomerol. Silky tannins add to the wine’s early and medium-term appeal. Another year or two in bottle should help the oak integrate a bit further, but this will always be in a forward, giving style. Tasted two times.HK$4,220.00 -

The 2017 Bonalgue is a dense, potent wine. Blackberry jam, chocolate, licorice, spice, menthol, and espresso give the 2017 notable sweetness and richness. This is an especially dense, concentrated Pomerol with good balance and tons of immediate appeal. There is not much subtlety here, but there is plenty to like just the same.HK$3,140.00 -
Decanter (94)
Ripe and concentrated on the nose, darkly perfumed with red cherries and blackcurrants at the fore. Smooth and satisfying on the palate, this has a lovely bright expression to the summery red berry fruits and a velvety-textured tannic grip that is edged with sweet liquorice and dark chocolate. Powerful but poised with a sense of Pomerol class.HK$3,230.00 -

The 2017 Bourgneuf has really gained in density over the course of its élevage, while remaining as restrained and understated as it always is. Pliant, silky and wonderfully nuanced with lovely aromatic top notes, Bourgneuf is one the undiscovered jewels in Pomerol - and in Bordeaux more broadly. Expressive floral and savory notes add aromatic dimension but in 2017, Bourgenuf stands out for its textural depth and resonance, both of which are pronounced to a degree I have not seen previously. I would give the 2017 a few years in bottle to soften. It is such a gorgeous wine. Tasted three times.HK$4,040.00 -

The 2018 Bourgneuf is positively stellar. Silky, nuanced and so full of character, the 2018 impresses with its total finesse. Silky tannins and beautifully lifted aromatics give this mid-weight Pomerol so much class. Lavender, spice, mint, dried herbs and a touch of new oak are all laced into a core of inky blue/purplish berry fruit. This is another stellar effort from a château that has been seriously on the rise over the last few vintages.HK$5,265.00 -
