  • Capbern 2018 (6x150cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (92-94)

From the team at Calon Ségur, the 2018 Château Capbern is another smoking good Saint-Estèphe. In 2018 it’s a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot that will spend 18 months in 60% new French oak. This ripe, sexy wine (it hit 14.6% natural alcohol) sports a deep purple color as well as blockbuster notes of crème de cassis, jammy blackberries, crushed flowers, and scorched earth. Despite all the fruit and texture, it stays beautifully balanced, has classic Saint-Estèphe earthy minerality, ripe tannins, and a great finish.

  • Capbern 2022 (12x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (93+)

From the team at Calon-Ségur and deep ruby/plum-hued, the 2022 Château Capbern has a youthful, unevolved profile in its black and blue fruits as well as crushed stone, graphite, and violet-like perfume. This carries to a rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated Capbern that has solid depth of fruit, juicy acidity, and ripe tannins. It has all the right components, but it's going to need some time to come together.

  • Capbern 2023 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2023

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)

The 2023 Capbern is an absolute delight. Bright, floral and super finessed, Capbern has a lot to offer in 2023. Crushed flowers, mint, spice, tobacco, rose petal and crushed red berry fruit are all very nicely sculpted in the glass. Cabernet Sauvignon drives the blend, and that comes through in the wine's savory, brilliant personality.
  • Capet-Guillier 2019 (6x75cl)
    (6x75cl) 2019

Capet-Guillier 2019 is a distinguished red wine hailing from the esteemed Loire Valley, where the unique terroir of sandy and clay soils cultivates exceptional Cabernet Franc grapes. Crafted by the renowned Domaine Capet-Guillier, this vintage undergoes meticulous hand harvesting to ensure only the finest grapes are selected. The fermentation process is carefully managed in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving the wine’s vibrant fruit character and subtle earthy undertones. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for twelve months in French oak barrels, allowing it to develop a harmonious balance of rich tannins and elegant acidity. On the palate, Capet-Guillier 2019 reveals layers of ripe blackcurrant, cherry, and a hint of spice, culminating in a long, refined finish. Celebrated by critics for its complexity and finesse, this vintage epitomises the Domaine Capet-Guillier’s commitment to excellence and showcases the exceptional quality of Loire Valley wines.

  • Carbonnieux 2016 (6x75cl)

    James Suckling (94-95)

Big and juicy red with lots of fruit and tannins yet it’s not overdone. Full-bodied, chewy and intense. Lots of potential here. Better than the 2015?

  • Carbonnieux 2017 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2017

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)

The 2017 Carbonnieux is dark and intense in the glass. Swaths of tannin wrap around a core of dark fruit in this decidedly potent, Pessac-Léognan. Orange peel, incense, spice, sweet tobacco and cedar add a super appealing exotic flair as the 2017 builds with time in the glass. Another few years in bottle should help things come together even more fully.
  • Carbonnieux 2018 (1x600cl)

    Wine Spectator (93-96)

A dense, dark red, with fig, blackberry and black currant reduction notes forming the core, layered liberally with tar, espresso and loam accents through the muscular finish.

  • Carbonnieux 2019 (1x150cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (94)

I am so pleased that the 2019 Carbonnieux has retained the engaging aromatics that I found from the barrel sample: copious blackberry, raspberry, incense and light violet aromas soar from the glass. The palate is very well balanced with fine-grained tannins, and much more precise than recent vintages, leading to a harmonious, silky-smooth, almost tender finish. More polished than recent vintages, this Carbonnieux comes highly recommended.
