Jeb Dunnuck (100)The 2018 Château Larcis Ducasse checks in as 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc that comes from a gorgeous hillside terroir on the Côte Pavie, located between Château Pavie and Château Bellefont-Belcier. Aged 18 months in 60% new barrels, it offers a truly sensational bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, espresso roast, scorched earth, bloody meat, chocolate, iron, and bouquet garni. A massive, super-rich Saint-Emilion with a dense, concentrated, layered mouthfeel, it has building yet sweet tannins and incredible purity of fruit. Reminding me of the 2005 shortly after release, this heavenly juice offers astonishing richness and depth while staying flawlessly balanced and elegant. Sadly, there are less than 3,000 cases produced, but this monumental, legendary wine won't hit maturity for a good 8-10 years and will have 40-50 years of longevity if well stored. Hats off to Nicolas Thienpont and consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt for producing one of the wines of the vintage as well as one of the greatest young Bordeaux I've ever tasted.

Jeb Dunnuck (95-97)A blend of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc representing just 41% of the total production, the 2018 Château Laroque is still resting in barrels and oak tanks. Its deep purple color is followed by a classy bouquet of ripe black cherries, cassis, graphite, licorice, and crushed rocks. Deep, medium to full-bodied, with a beautiful mid-palate and ripe, silky tannins, it's an incredible success for the estate, which is firing on all cylinders today thanks to the talented David Suire!

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)Opulent and racy, the 2018 Laroze hits all the right notes. Cinnamon, new leather, lavender and cedar add gorgeous aromatic top notes to a core of succulent red cherry fruit. Soft contours add immediacy and allure throughout. Best of all, the 2018 will drink well with minimal cellaring.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)The 2018 Larrivet Haut-Brion has developed into a gorgeous wine. There is plenty of the tannin I saw in my barrel tastings, and yet all the elements are so well balanced today. Iron, cedar, dried herbs, licorice, dried flowers and mint add striking savory undertones to this deceptively mid weight Pessac-Léognan. Larrivet Haut-Brion is one of the most distinctive reds of the vintage.

Jeb Dunnuck (94)The 2018 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc checks in as 75% Sauvignon and 25% Sémillon that was brought up in 25% new French oak. It has a classic (and terrific) nose of honeyed grapefruit, exotic flowers, and a liquid rock-like minerality. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Bordeaux Blanc with a rounded, expansive texture, nicely integrated acidity, terrific overall balance, and a great, dry, crisp finish. It's already drinking nicely, and while I wouldn't push the aging curve, I wouldn't bet against it drinking brilliant for 15 years either. This wasn't a great vintage for the whites, but this is impressive.

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2018 Lassègue has a really gorgeous bouquet of luscious dark cherry fruit, cassis, crushed violets and vanilla pod. It becomes increasingly floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied and sweet with supple tannins. Licorice and brown spices filter through the black fruit, leading to a satin-textured finish. Very seductive and quite heady, this is a Saint-Émilion that clearly has ambitions, though overall I find it just a little too sweet.

Wine Advocate (97-99)Le Dome is from the JCP Maltus portfolio of skillfully crafted Saint-Émilion wines. Neil White is the head winemaker and Thomas Duclos is a consultant here. The 2018 Le Dome is composed of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, with a 3.82 pH and 14.3% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it is a little coy in the beginning, requiring considerable coaxing to allow fragrant earth, rose hip tea, preserved plums and raspberry pie notions to emerge, giving way to notes of pencil shavings, woodsmoke and camphor. Full-bodied, firm and finely grained, the profound palate is sparked by energetic mineral and red fruit notes, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and just enough acidity to lift the very long, very fragrant finish.
