The 2020 Les Perrières de Lafleur is more backward than the 2019 with blackberry and light estuarine scents plus a dab of shucked oyster shell in the background. The palate is beautifully balanced, gentle but firm in terms of grip, with wonderful poise and density on the finish. This will probably require longer in bottle than the previous vintage, but it will reward the patient. Tasted from ex-château magnum at Kate & Kon's 40-Year vertical in Austria.HK$2,585.00 -
James Suckling (94-95)
Very fine, well integrated tannins with blackberry, dark chocolate and blackcurrant. It’s full and extremely racy. One of the finest second wines.HK$2,100.00 -

The 2020 Les Trois Croix has maintained a wonderful bouquet with bright blackberry and wild strawberry scents, hints of cedar and graphite emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very well-judged acidity, taut and crisp with a slightly granular, graphite-tinged finish that gives it Pauillac-like allure. Superb.HK$2,005.00 -

The 2020 Lespault-Martillac is plump, juicy and wonderfully expressive. Ripe red cherry/red plum, orange zest cinnamon and crushed flowers fill out the layers in a succulent, vibrant Lespault that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2020 is a wine of total allure.HK$1,125.00 -

The 2020 Lestage Simon has good intensity on the nose, featuring cedar- and tobacco-infused black fruit that displays commendable intensity and delineation. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannins and crisp acidity. Very classic in style, with a grippy, slightly oaky finish. There is a boldness to this Haut-Médoc that I appreciate, but cellar it for 3-4 years.HK$910.00 -
Jeb Dunnuck (92-94)
This estate continues to deliver the goods, and the 2020 Château Lilian Ladouys is another smoking wine readers will love. Lots of ripe black fruits, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and damp earth give way to a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, textured, beautifully balanced red that will drink well for 20 years or more.HK$1,035.00 -

The 2020 Lions de Batailley has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, cedar and light cigar box aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with graphite tinged black fruit on the entry, fine weight, quite sweet towards the finish whilst retaining Pauillac-like structure. This is a thoroughly decent Deuxième Vin.HK$1,935.00 -

The 2020 Lynsolence is 100% Merlot, aging for 18 months in French oak barriques, 100% new. Deep purple-black in color, it charges out of the glass with energetic scents of fresh blackberries, crushed black cherries and ripe, juicy black plums, plus nuances of cedar chest, lilacs and licorice with a touch of dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with taut black fruits, framed by firm, finely grained tannins and fantastic tension, finishing long and layered. The alcohol is 14.5% this year.HK$1,955.00
