  • Ferriere 2009 (12x75cl)

    James Suckling (93)

  • Ferriere 2015 (1x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The 2015 Ferrière is terrific. Black cherry, plum, lavender and spice give the 2015 its super distinctive dark profile. Juicy and generous on the palate, the 2015 has developed into a very nice Margaux that plays on the darker end of the fruit spectrum. The 2015 is dense and powerful, but also impeccably balanced.

  • Ferriere 2016 (12x75cl)

    Wine Enthusiast (94)

From a vineyard that is now biodynamic, the wine has gained an extra dimension of fruit. At the same time, the tannins give the wine density that will stand it in good stead as it ages. This is for the long term.

  • Ferriere 2018 (6x150cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The 2018 Ferrière is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Inky dark fruit, gravel, cured meats, graphite, smoke and lavender all run through the 2018. Readers will have to be especially patient, as the 2018 needs time to unwind. Yields are down from an average of 45 hectoliters per hectare to just 26, which no doubt contributes to the wine's natural intensity. The blend is 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, in other words, the Cabernet Sauvignon is especially high, a recent trend here because of climate change. This is the first year in which a portion of the wine was aged in cement and amphora (20%), which according to Claire Lurton allows for lower SO2 in aging.

  • Ferriere 2019 (6x150cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (95)

The 2019 Ferrière is a dense, packed wine, just as it was from barrel. Black fruit, graphite plum, licorice and spice infuse the 2019 with tremendous character. This powerful, brooding Margaux is going to need at least a few years to come together. It sure is alluring in this tasting. Readers will have to be patient, though. The tannins are pretty formidable. Ferrière was impressive en primeur. It is equally compelling today.

  • Ferriere 2021 (12x37.5cl)

    The Drinks Business (92-94)

Ferrière (Margaux; 81% Cabernet Sauvignon; 13% Merlot; 5% Petit Verdot; 1% Cabernet Franc; tasted at Durfot-Vivens). Cool, refined and pure, with a nice touch of graphite and a lovely minerality alongside the bright and brilliant fruit – cassis, redcurrant, cranberry, but also raspberry purée and mulberry. Super-soft on the entry, and with the racy acidity brilliantly incorporated and distributed across the palate, this builds to a lovely and intensely sapid crescendo. The Cabernet Sauvignon is the star here and that gives a superb fresh cassis signature to the fantail finish. Likely to be excellent value

  • Feytit-Clinet 2005 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2005

    Wine Advocate (93)

This estate is coming to life again after a long period of mediocrity. The deep ruby/purple-hued 2005 Feytit Clinet is performing brilliantly, offering up notes of chocolate-covered blackberries, licorice, incense, and notions of earth as well as oak. A 1,600-case blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, from a 15-acre vineyard situated near Trotanoy, the 2005 is full-bodied and powerful with sweet but substantial tannin, good acidity, and a long finish. It will benefit from 5-6 years of bottle age, and should improve over the following two decades. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2030.
  • Feytit-Clinet 2006 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2006

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91)

Full red-ruby. Extravagant aromas of raspberry, iron, brown spices, tobacco, burning cinders and nutty oak. Lush, broad, ripe and dry; really saturates the palate without any impression of weight. Suave, fine-grained, horizontal wine, still a bit youthfully tight. Finishes with lovely lingering perfume.
  • Feytit-Clinet 2008 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

This stunning 2008 (14% natural alcohol) is composed of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 1,300 cases were produced of this dense plum/purple-hued offering. It exhibits a big, sweet nose of blackberries, black currants, licorice, smoke and forest floor. The lovely perfume is followed by a medium to full-bodied wine displaying sweet, velvety tannins as well as an endearing personality. It begs to be consumed now and over the next 10-15 years.

  • Feytit-Clinet 2009 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2009

    Wine Advocate (94)

Dominated by Merlot (95%) blended with a small amount of Cabernet Franc (5%), with 14.5% natural alcohol, it exhibits an opaque blue/purple color as well as a bouquet reminiscent of blueberry pie intermixed with espresso beans, black raspberries, charcoal and graphite. Full-bodied, thick and juicy with undeniable purity, a layered mouthfeel and abundant but sweet tannins, this exceptional Pomerol should be ready for prime time drinking in 5-8 years and last for at least three decades. Unfortunately, there are just over 1,300 cases produced.
  • Feytit-Clinet 2010 (6x150cl)
    (6x150cl) 2010

    James Suckling (96)

A wine with beautiful balance of blackberries, dark chocolate and flowers. Full body, with very refined tannins and a glorious finish. Speechless. Best wine ever from here.
  • Feytit-Clinet 2012 (6x75cl)
    (6x75cl) 2012

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The 2012 Feytit-Clinet is one of the more massive, structured Pomerols of the year. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, violets, mint, sage, chocolate, lavender, smoke and tobacco fill out the wine's ample, large-scaled frame with aplomb. There is no shortage of power or intensity. The only question is how long the tannins will need to soften. Today, the Feytit-Clinet is a bruiser. But that doesn't stop it from being both compelling and drop-dead gorgeous. I have been deeply impressed with what I have tasted from proprietor Jérémy Chasseuil over the last few years.
  • Feytit-Clinet 2013 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2013

    Wine Advocate (90-92)

An unquestionable star of the vintage, this 18-acre vineyard is near Trotanoy, Latour a Pomerol and Clinet. The wine is made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 50% of the production made it into the Grand Vin label. Surprisingly it sports a lofty 13.4% natural alcohol. Deep ruby/purple, with notes of plum, blackcurrant, black cherry, incense and camphor, the wine shows surprising depth, a reasonably broad, succulent mouthfeel and a luscious, impressive finish. This is atypically rich, juicy and succulent for a 2013. Drink it over the next decade or more.
  • Feytit-Clinet 2014 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

Game, smoke, tobacco, licorice and incense run through the 2014 Feytit Clinet, which exudes depth and intensity. Chocolate, gravel and a host of dark-toned fruits nearly bury the tannins. The 2014 saw five days of cold soaking followed by 26 days on the skins. Malolactic fermentation was done in barrel. The blend is 94 % Merlot and 6 % Cabernet Franc. Proprietor Jérémy Chasseuil and his team have done a terrific job with the 2014.

The 2017 Feytit-Clinet is flat-out stunning, and also one of the wines of the vintage. An exotic mélange of blackberry jam, graphite, game, smoke, licorice and espresso builds in an explosive Pomerol endowed with tremendous verticality and power. As always, Feytit-Clinet is an especially somber Pomerol. Its textural finesse, personality and pure bred intensity are the stuff dreams are made of. Don't miss it. Tasted two times.

Bordeaux's relatively diverse weather, particularly its rainfall, means that vintage variation can be quite broad between some years. However advances in wine making techniques, technology and investment has meant that many chateaux are still able to create very good wines in "lesser vintages". From the best vintages wines are made that are clambered for all over the world and mature excellently for many years. This is a selection of some of our favourite vintages from Bordeaux over the last few decades, as well some more recent ones.
