Vinous - Neal Martin (93)
The 2008 Malescot St Exupery has a conservative, correct bouquet that to be frank is rather unexciting compared to its peers, although it does open and reveal briary and crushed rose petal scents and bingo, you are soon under its spell. The palate is medium-bodied with “furry” tannins, good depth of fruit and it has a fine line of acidity. I like the spine of this Margaux and the classicism shown towards the bright finish. This is absolutely fabulous. I love the complex aromas of ripe fruit and fresh flowers that turn to mineral and raspberry, along with tannins on the finish. This changes all the time. Full-bodied and dense, but so beautiful and long. The layers of ultrafine tannins just turn off the tip of your tongue. Score range: 97-100 -JSHK$9,075.00 -

Bordeaux's relatively diverse weather, particularly its rainfall, means that vintage variation can be quite broad between some years. However advances in wine making techniques, technology and investment has meant that many chateaux are still able to create very good wines in "lesser vintages". From the best vintages wines are made that are clambered for all over the world and mature excellently for many years.
This is a selection of some of our favourite vintages from Bordeaux over the last few decades, as well some more recent ones.
