The 2019 Citran has come together nicely in élevage. Succulent red cherry, mint, tobacco, licorice, rose petal, cinnamon and dried herbs all grace this expressive Haut-Médoc. Hints of cedar, menthol and spice linger. The 2019 is a bit rustic, but it offers plenty of character.HK$1,340.00 -

The 2020 Citran is fortunately showing less reduction on the nose than it did from barrel, revealing blackberry and briary scents, touches of graphite and pressed iris flower. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Moderate depth, filling out nicely towards the finish. This is a fresh and tensile Citran that should age well over the next 15-20 years.HK$1,500.00 -

This is the generic Bordeaux from the Domaine Clarence Dillon. When they first told me about this, I thought it was probably not the best idea in the world, but the quality of the wine speaks for itself. I think they have been right on the money with what they have achieved with this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc. Deep ruby/purple, with notes of Graves-like scorched earth, charcoal and blackcurrants, this wine is dense, medium-bodied, quite supple and rich. Despite its precociousness, it clearly has capacity, with this depth and structure, to age 7-10 years.HK$2,885.00 -

The 2016 Clarendelle is a very pretty, entry-level wine from Clarence Dillon's Clarendelle label. Dark cherry, mocha, spice are all laced throughout. Expressive floral notes add a closing touch of freshness to round things out. A gracious, everyday wine, the 2016 is terrific.HK$1,540.00 -

The 2016 Clarendelle Blanc is a tasty white to drink now and over the next year or two, while the citrus and floral notes remain fresh. A dollop (10 percent) of Muscadelle adds midpalate weight and a lovely exotic flair. Best of all, the 2016 should be a terrific value.HK$1,990.00 -

The 2020 Bordeaux Blanc from Clarendelle is an attractive, aperitif-style dry white to drink now and over the next few years. Green apple, lemon peel, sage and mint linger on the bright, zesty finish. The blend is 43% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sémillon and 27% Muscadelle.HK$1,625.00 -
(6x75cl) 2015Wine Advocate (90-92)
The 2015 Clarke has an attractive blackberry and briary scented nose with just a hint of dark chocolate emanating from the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, the acidity nicely judged with fine tension on the cedar and tobacco-tinged finish. I appreciate the freshness and refinement demonstrated by this Château Clarke, a classic Listrac that should give 10-12 years of pleasure.HK$2,725.00 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)
The 2018 Clarke is a potent wine. A blast of dark red cherry fruit, iron, smoke, grilled herbs and menthol makes a strong opening statement. Readers should plan on being patient, as the 2018 is going to need a number of years to soften. Even so, it is pretty impressive today. Cedar, leather and game add aromatic nuance, but Clarke is ultimately a pretty rich, potent Listrac that just needs time. The only question is how much.HK$1,870.00 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (91)
The 2020 Clarke has a classically-styled bouquet with strict blackberry, graphite and mint aromas that might lead you towards Pauillac instead of Listrac. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, well balanced with a fresh line of acidity. The oak is neatly assimilated on the finish that feels smooth and enticing. This is an excellent Château Clarke.HK$1,840.00 -

Wine Advocate (90-92)
The 2016 Clauzet offers rich and opulent dark cherry and blueberry fruit on the nose, more floral than earthy compared to its peers, but with commendable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry and I appreciate how those slightly rigid Saint Estèphe tannins provide the backbone here. It will need three of four years to mellow in the glass, but this has great potential.HK$1,425.00 -

The 2021 Clauzet is promising. There's good depth to the fruit. Bruising tannins and a slight vegetal character are a bit distracting today, but if those elements settle and/or integrate the 2021 could turn out quite nicely.HK$960.00 -
