The deep purple-hued 2020 Château Dassault is another remarkable 2020 Saint-Emilion that shines on all accounts. Gorgeous raspberries, blueberries, dried flowers, spicy wood, and orange blossom notes all emerge from this complex, elegant, medium to full-bodied effort, and it's balanced, has silky tannins, and a great finish. It's medium-bodied, has a concentrated, balanced, nicely structured mouthfeel, plenty of ripe, polished tannins, and exceptional purity. Based on 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot and aged 15 months in French oak barrels (65% new) with 10% in amphora, it will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age and is going to cruise for at least two decades. Bordeaux's relatively diverse weather, particularly its rainfall, means that vintage variation can be quite broad between some years. However advances in wine making techniques, technology and investment has meant that many chateaux are still able to create very good wines in "lesser vintages". From the best vintages wines are made that are clambered for all over the world and mature excellently for many years.
