Nevertheless, it should age nicely for a decade or more. |

It firms up toward the fresh finish, which has just the right amount of dryness and grip and an appealing marine tinge. This is worth seeking out. |

It does not quite knit together as well as I was hoping, hence my prudent score. |

There is also a sour note on the aftertaste. So-so. |

Blackberry and seaweed scents feature on the nose, along with hints of tobacco (perhaps less prominent than before). The palate is medium-bodied with good acidity, and this bottle is suppler than the previous one, with a little more spiciness surfacing toward the finish. Give it 2–3 years in bottle. |

Bordeaux's relatively diverse weather, particularly its rainfall, means that vintage variation can be quite broad between some years. However advances in wine making techniques, technology and investment has meant that many chateaux are still able to create very good wines in "lesser vintages". From the best vintages wines are made that are clambered for all over the world and mature excellently for many years.
