  • Ducru-Beaucaillou 2022 (12x75cl)

    The Wine Cellar Insider (98-100)

Inky dark in color, the wine exudes blackberries, smoke, currants, nutmeg, flowers, Cuban cigar wrapper, black cherries, smoke, and spice in the nose. On the palate, the wine is dense, and intense, yet light on its feet with seemingly, endless waves of deep, black and red, spicy fruits. There is symmetry, balance, and freshness on the palate. The tannins are present, silky, and refined. The wine is silky, supple, creamy, and seamless in the finish, which moves from black fruits, to red fruits and back to black fruits with spice, and accents of mint and a touch of citrus at the very end of the finish, which lingers for at least 60 seconds. Ducru Beaucaillou has been on an unstoppable roll since 2009. Produced from blending 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, 14% ABV, 3.8 pH. Picking took place September 7 -- October 4.

  • Ducru-Beaucaillou 2023 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (98+)

The 2023 Ducru-Beaucaillou is a jewel of wine. Soaring aromatics are immediately captivating. A rush of red/purplish fruit, mocha, new leather and well-judged oak build as the 2023 shows off its vertical structure and total class. There's plenty of Ducru opulence, but everything is in the right place. I must admit, I like the lower-alcohol vintages at Ducru quite a bit, as there is less oak extraction, which in turn yields wines of exquisite finesse and class. A highlight.

  • Ducru-Beaucaillou La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou 2018 (6x150cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)

Just as it was en primeur, the 2018 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou is rich, sensual and enveloping. Silky tannins wrap around a core of blackberry jam, chocolate, spice, lavender and new leather. All the elements are so well balanced in this sumptuous, racy Saint-Julien. A warm growing season yielded small berries and heady, concentrated flavors. This is such a gorgeous wine. The blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.

  • Duhart-Milon 1990 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (92)

The 1990 Duhart-Milon is a vintage I have not drunk for a long time. Served blind, it has a lovely nose of blackberry, singed leather, hung game and pencil shavings. The palate is fresh and well-balanced, disguising the warmth of the growing season with some style thanks to the perfectly judged acidity. Yes, a little foursquare on the finish, it is Duhart after all, but what a gorgeous wine. This is an ex-château bottle that was served at Maison François in London.

  • Duhart-Milon 1998 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 1998

    Wine Spectator (89)

A very good amount of ripe fruit in this wine, with a complement of cedar and tobacco character. Full-bodied, with firm tannins that verge on being aggressive, but overall an attractive '98. Score range: 85-89

    (12x75cl) 2002

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (90+)

(-) Good deep ruby-red. Sexy aromas of currant, minerals and gunpowder tea. Densely packed and minerally, with uncompromising dryness and a firm edge of acidity. Very old school and in need of bottle aging, yet this already has considerable sex appeal.

  • Duhart-Milon 2004 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (91)

Another sleeper of the vintage for this property that has been doing impressive work over recent vintages, the 2004 (a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot) displays a dark ruby/purple color along with classic aromas of cedar, creme de cassis, earth, spice, and wood. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, long, and impressively endowed, it should be at its peak between 2010-2022.

  • Duhart-Milon 2006 (12x75cl)

    Wine Enthusiast (93)

The character of this wine, a straight line of tannins and black currant fruit flavors, is the model of a classic Pauillac. It has all the structure as well as some austerity and severity at this stage in its development. But the fruit texture is rich enough, dried fruits and spice followed by licorice and bitter chocolate. Age for five years at least.

  • Duhart-Milon 2007 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (90)

Showing better than it did from cask, this soft, generous, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2007 exhibits sweet black currant fruit intermixed with cedar, roasted herbs, and subtle smoke. Round, hedonistic, and already complex, this blend of 73.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26.5% Merlot should drink well for 12-15 years.

A magnificent sleeper of the vintage, the 2008 Duhart Milon is the shrewd consumer’s wine to purchase by the case as prices do not yet reflect its qualitative resurgence. Composed of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot that came in at 13.09% alcohol, it is a surprisingly intense effort displaying a marvelous texture, plenty of black currant, licorice, unsmoked cigar tobacco and earthy characteristics, a full-bodied mouthfeel and stunning purity as well as density. Enjoy this top-notch 2008 over the next 20-25 years.

Talk about value, the 2009 Duhart-Milon is straight up sensational stuff. Made from 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot, it gives up classic notes of blackcurrants, pencil shavings, saddle leather and smoked herbs, it’s full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with fine tannin, impeccable balance and a great, great finish. This marks an impressive step forward for this wine that's so often been in the shadows of other wines in the Lafite-Rothschild stable. It's dense and structured as well as deliciously fruity. The wine is straight down the line, starting with perfumed acidity and finishing with blackberry fruit. Intense and tannic, it's likely to age. Drink from 2020.
