Chambolle-Musigny

Vinous (93-95)
Medium red. Deep, brooding aromas of dark berries, brown spices and earth. Extremely introverted on the palate, with strong saline soil tones currently overshadowing the wine's fruit. This finished its malolactic fermentation in July (most of these 2013s finished between March and June of last year) and is clearly behind most of the Gevrey wines here in its development. But this saline, classically dry, very long Bonnes-Mares should prove to be an outstanding wine of terroir 10 or 12 years down the road.HK$11,810.00 -
Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93-96)
Bright medium red. The aromas of black cherry, blackberry and menthol show a medicinal reserve. Superconcentrated, chewy and fresh, offering a near-perfect balance of primary fruits and saline, soil-driven minerality. Jadot waited longer than in past years to harvest their fruit in Chambolle-Musigny, said Barnier, noting that this represents "a bit of a change in our pattern." This very rich, long Bonnes-Mares is wonderfully sweet and full, not to mention surprisingly tastable at this early stage.HK$13,305.00 -
(1x75cl) 2016Decanter (95)
The Bonnes-Mares is an excellent, cellar worthy wine this year, opening in the glass with a bouquet of cherries, wild berries, currant leaf, coffee and gamebird. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, with excellent depth, rich but chalky tannins, and good energy through the long, penetrating finish. This is firmly structured but has the dimension and amplitude to carry it.HK$3,185.00 -

This is a sumptuous wine, rich and full of both fruit and a cushioned structure. The generosity of this beautifully perfumed wine is considerable, giving juicy fruits as well as acidity. It has great aging potential so don't drink before 2026.HK$7,925.00 -

The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is armed with precocious black cherries, cassis, crushed violets and a touch of iodine on the nose, aromatics that have no intention of holding back. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, wonderful precision and sense of energy. Almost playful toward the very pure, sensual, vivid finish. This is a superb "BM" from Louis Jadot and it should offer 30-plus years of pleasure.HK$3,305.00 -

The 2019 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a floral bouquet of black and blueberry fruit infused with crushed violet and iris petal. This is completely destemmed, so it does not convey the same amplitude. The palate is medium-bodied, with light Earl Grey and ash notes tincturing the black fruit. Fine structure and focus here. Light on its feet toward the long, sustained finish. This is a superb Bonnes-Mares.HK$10,895.00 -

The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is very pure and harmonious on the nose with plush black cherry and cassis fruit, well-integrated oak and a floral aspect that becomes more prominent with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, lightly spiced with quite a vivacious, mineral-driven finish that retains superb definition. This is very impressive and bloomin’ delicious (already!)HK$20,395.00 -

The 2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has one of the finest aromatics from Jadot this year with a seductive bouquet of wild strawberry, blueberry, sous-bois and hints of Earl Grey and wilted rose petals. Wonderful. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and crisp acidity. It's taut and fresh with a touch of spice toward the cohesive and persistent finish. This is a superb effort in such a challenging growing season.HK$12,125.00 -

(3x75cl) 2023Vinous - Neal Martin (96-98)
The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru contains 30% whole cluster like the previous year. It was one of the shy wines at the beginning of barrel aging, according to head winemaker Frédéric Barnier. Those stems add another dimension to the bouquet: dark berry fruit, hints of pepper and freshly rolled tobacco blossom in the glass with impressive vigor. The palate is ravishing and succulent on the entry with filigreed tannins, a keen line of acidity—perhaps the purest of all of Jadot's red cuvées—and just the right amount of lushness on the finish. There's structure here, but it is cloaked in gorgeous fruit. Bon vin!HK$10,725 - HK$13,110

A dazzlingly complex and pure nose reveals an incredible breadth of spice-box and dark fruit aromas that are displaying only a whisper of secondary development along with just enough wood to comment on. The ripe and seductive yet incredibly intense medium-bodied flavors display marvelous depth and perfect balance on the sappy, sweet, powerful and hugely long finish that is beautifully detailed and focused. This beauty is a model of grace and understatement and while it could be drunk now with pleasure I would advise waiting as it seems quite clear that there is still plenty of unrealized development potential. In sum, this is stunningly good.HK$42,865.00 -
(6x75cl) 2011Vinous (94-97)
Medium red. Reticent but pristine aromas of cranberry, raspberry and clove oil, plus an exhilarating suggestion of candied fruit. Superconcentrated, silky and utterly seamless; wonderfully spherical wine with great fruit intensity and complexity and a pungent crushed stone element. Combines a texture of liquid velvet with an almost magically light touch. Finishes with noble tannins and great length and grip. Even sweeter on the finish than the Amoureuses. Great wine in the making.HK$33,845.00 -
Vinous (95-97)
The 2017 Musigny Grand Cru, which contains just under 50% stems, demands more coaxing than the Les Amoureuses, eventually revealing cranberry and hints of hoisin, sous-bois, tobacco and crushed stone aromas, all very complex. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannin framing pure dark berry fruit laced with brown spice, tobacco and sage. This Musigny displays wonderful density and power, yet retains the precision of a noble Burgundy on the long finish. Outstanding.HK$38,890.00 -
Vinous (94-96)
The 2018 Musigny Grand Cru has a much more composed and refined, almost understated bouquet compared to the Bonnes-Mares. Red berry fruit, sous-bois, touches of sandalwood and bay leaf aromas develop in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Lively and full of tension, displaying just a touch of piquancy toward the spicy finish and a very long tail. A lovely Musigny, although you cannot help but be seduced by the more flattering Bonnes-Mares.HK$19,350.00 -

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)
1 x 350 litre barrel is the whole crop! No great depth to the colour, nor do I pick up much on the nose. The more sumptuous style of Musigny shows on the palate but in a muted register. Just a fraction peppery behind but the weight of slightly riper fruit returns behind that. Persistent, sensual, well made, just not on a fortissimo scale this year. Drink from 2028-2035+. Tasted: October 2022HK$7,470.00 -
(3x75cl) 2022Vinous - Neal Martin (95-97)
The 2022 Musigny Grand Cru does not hold back with a multi-layered nose of wild strawberry, raspberry, forest floor, pain d'épice and a light ash-like scent. Very absorbing and beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins. Impressive depth and grip, as you would expect from a Musigny, with a touch of white pepper and orange rind towards the finish. Very long. It will require 8 to 10 years in bottle, but it's certainly worth the wait.HK$22,750.00 -

The 2023 Musigny Grand Cru has a complex bouquet that just needs a few swirls of the glass to reveal its mineral-driven red berry fruit with hints of marmalade and brown spices. This is really nuanced and engaging, though it is more discrete than the previous vintage. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine but firm tannins to frame it, judiciously spiced with touches of leather and earthy notes toward the finish. There is impressive length and depth to this Musigny, though it will of course require four to five years in bottle. Excellent.HK$10,096.59 -
Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93-96)
Red-ruby. Wild dark berries, smoked meat, mocha and wild herbs on the vibrant nose. Huge, lush and sweet, as deep as it is wide. Brooding earthy low notes are balanced by superb violet lift. A Bonnes-Mares of great palate-saturating persistence. A fabulous showing today, and built for a long life in bottle.HK$6,165.00 -
Burghound (89-92)
A moderately toasty nose reflects notes of cassis, wild red currant and soft floral wisps. The sleek, muscular and broad-shouldered flavors make quite a contrast with the slightly skinny and lean finish where the wood toast telegraphed by the nose resurfaces. Again, this may come together but that is far from a certainty.HK$22,685.00 -
Burghound (93-96)
Ripe aromas include those of plum, dark cherry, warm earth and a whisper of the sauvage. The supple, delicious and dense big-bodied flavors flash enormous power and drive that really builds from the mid-palate to the explosively long and sappy finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. Note that this is very firmly structured and in need of at least a decade of keeping and should reward almost two.HK$21,385.00
