The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselots, which saw 50% new oak, has a crisp, tensile bouquet with more volume that the Nuits Saint Georges Chaignots. There is real transparency here: fabulous definition and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, tensile like the Chaignots but there is a touch of more fruit that seems a little darker and denser. The finish just skips along with joy. This is superb.HK$27,100.00 -

The 2012 Bonnes-Mares is one of the most reticent wines among the Grand Crus. Here it is the wine's inner tension and pure sense of energy that stand out most. Violets, crushed rocks, graphite and plums are all layered into the powerful, imposing finish. The 2012 was fermented with 80% whole clusters, and it still needs time to fully come together. Still, from time to time glimpses of brilliance come through, suggesting what lies ahead.HK$27,115.00 -

Medium red. Aromas and flavors of raspberry, blueberry, smoky minerality and exotic spices, with complementary oak tones. Wonderfully pliant and smooth but with peppery and saline elements restraining its sweetness and contributing to an impression of inner-mouth perfume and lift. A superb, tactile midweight with very suave tannins and outstanding juicy persistence. Very silky and not at all austere.HK$21,100.00 -

The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Charmes has a lovely, well-defined, vibrant bouquet with brambly black and red fruit – blackcurrant pastilles emerging with aeration in the glass. The palate is firm in the mouth with good backbone. Plenty of clean and pure black fruit with dash of black pepper sprinkled lightly on the masculine but long finish. Fine.HK$8,275.00 -

Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of raspberry, minerals and dried flowers complicated by torrefaction notes of mocha and coffee. Round on entry, then sappy in the middle, showing terrific crushed raspberry intensity along with saline, mocha, spice and earth notes. This very taut, energetic wine is even more backward than the Amoureuses. Really saturates the palate on the back end, finishing with outstanding smoky persistence.HK$12,180.00 -

A wine of total sensuality, the 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru possesses stunning aromatic lift and inner sweetness, not to mention phenomenal overall balance. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, rose petal, mint and spice literally soar out of the glass, while firm tannins extend the structured finish in this tightly wound Burgundy. The 2016 is aging in 350L barrels. The larger format seems to confer an extra element of finesse that makes the Charmes totally seductive. - Antonio GalloniHK$3,960.00 -

Red-ruby. Blueberry and menthol on the pure if youthfully inky nose. Juicy and tight in the middle palate, showing much less give today than the Amoureuses. But this positively explodes on the back half, boasting a silkier texture and more pliancy, superb breadth of black cherry flavor, and strong but perfectly buffered tannins.HK$81,450.00 -

Good bright, dark red. Briary blueberry nose shows a captivating crushed-fruit urgency. Wonderfully energetic and pure in the mouth, with pristine flavors of cassis and blueberry. Extremely primary wine-and more powerful than the 2007. Finishes with firm but fine tannins and palate-saturating perfume.HK$26,440.00 -

Bright medium red. Strawberry, licorice and pepper on the nose. Supple and densely packed, with complex, savory flavors of dark berries, game and roasted herbs along with a saline element. Quite suave in texture; less citrussy than the Amoureuses and more obviously soil-driven. A fruity, rather polite style of Bonnes-Mares but boasts enticing inner-mouth perfume. This still youthfully closed wine finishes with sneaky rising length.HK$41,670.00 -

The 2009 Bonnes Mares opens with knockout aromatics that meld into layers of fresh, vibrant fruit. Medium in body yet wonderfully intense in its flavors, the Bonnes Mares impresses for its class and balance. An array of dark fruit, minerals, violets and white flowers linger on the pointed, saline finish. Groffier’s vines in Bonnes Mares sit on a slope with both terres rouges and terres blanches. (vinified with about 33% whole clusters): Good deep red. Ineffable high-pitched aromas of crushed raspberry, cranberry, blood orange, menthol and spices. Dense and tactile but at the same time juicy and vibrant, showing excellent cut and saline complexity to its red fruit and menthol flavors. Notes of lavender, garrigue and mint contribute to the impression of inner-mouth lift. Some oak comes up with air and carries through a very long, spicy finish. Really superb fruit and perfectly judged use of stems here--and not at all heavily extracted. Nicolas Groffier noted that he's now privileging clarity over roundess for his Bonnes-Mares.HK$26,455.00 -

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru was showing quite a lot of fruit extraction on the nose, darker than the Bonnes-Mares from either Bruno Clair or Domaine de la Vougeraie: blackberry and wild strawberry scents mixed with sous-bois and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, a fine line of acidity with good density. This is a mouth-filling and voluminous Bonnes-Mares with a tarty, spicy finish that suggests this should age well in bottle. Tasted September 2016.HK$20,750.00
