Vinous - Neal Martin (96-98)The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru contains 30% whole cluster like the previous year. It was one of the shy wines at the beginning of barrel aging, according to head winemaker Frédéric Barnier. Those stems add another dimension to the bouquet: dark berry fruit, hints of pepper and freshly rolled tobacco blossom in the glass with impressive vigor. The palate is ravishing and succulent on the entry with filigreed tannins, a keen line of acidity—perhaps the purest of all of Jadot's red cuvées—and just the right amount of lushness on the finish. There's structure here, but it is cloaked in gorgeous fruit. Bon vin! |

Burghound (96)A dazzlingly complex and pure nose reveals an incredible breadth of spice-box and dark fruit aromas that are displaying only a whisper of secondary development along with just enough wood to comment on. The ripe and seductive yet incredibly intense medium-bodied flavors display marvelous depth and perfect balance on the sappy, sweet, powerful and hugely long finish that is beautifully detailed and focused. This beauty is a model of grace and understatement and while it could be drunk now with pleasure I would advise waiting as it seems quite clear that there is still plenty of unrealized development potential. In sum, this is stunningly good. |

Towards the north of the Cote de Nuits, the chalky soils found in Chambolle Musigny can be credited for the signature elegance of these renowned wines. Although they might be lighter in colour and tannins, red wine from Chambolle does not lack for the purity and intensity of its fruit. The pinnacle of all of these qualities can be certainly be found in the two Grand Cru vineyards located in Chambolle, Musigny and Bonnes Mares.
