The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois is one of the stars of Duroché's range of Gevrey lieux-dits, wafting from the glass with beautiful aromas of cassis, wild berries, coniferous forest floor and sweet soil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a deep core of succulent fruit, fine tannins, and a sapid, pure finish.HK$1,355.00 -
Wine Advocate (90-92)
The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois was more reticent on the nose than Pierre Duroché's other nascent 2016s; however, there is fine complexity and mineralité already locked into this cuvée. Later there is a hint of licorice that adds another layer of complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and sports a caressing texture and a taut line of acidity. There is a spicy vein to this Gevrey-Chambertin, and after departing, the tongue is still fizzing with prenatal energy. I look forward to revisiting this after bottling, because this is a serious village cru.HK$1,555.00 -

Attractively light, dusty overlay on the fruit, open and inviting. Bright and fresh on the palate, so drinkable. Fresh, with fine-grained tannins, and already giving pleasure.HK$1,000.00 -

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois, completely destemmed, has a pretty bouquet of pure red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, all very seductive and winsome. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and a slightly chalky texture, especially toward the finish, which displays more tension and terroir expression than the Le Clos. Very fine.HK$2,055.00 -
Vinous (90-92)
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois has a little more reduction on the nose that made it a bit more difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a pinch of black pepper and a slight graphite note towards the persistent finish. This has real pedigree.HK$1,650.00 -

4 barrels were made from three quarters of a hectare, equating to 12 hl/ha. Another fine ruby colour. The nose is more flamboyant than for the straight Gevrey, red fruit with a floral edge. Delicious though on the palate with fair intensity in a lifted cherry raspberry style with excellent persistence. Drink from 2025-2030.HK$6,015.00 -

Bottled mid-December, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois, from vines planted in 1953, is 100% de-stemmed using a pied de cuve at the start of fermentation. The nose has kicked in nicely since I tasted it from barrel. Plump red cherries and blackcurrant scents seem to have developed a little more va-va-voom. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very pure and silky in style, just a touch of sour cherry imparting tension. With fine persistence towards the finish, this is a delightful "young king."HK$4,910 - HK$6,000

The 2010 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has compelling complexity on the nose with wonderful mineralité and terroir expression, hints of wild heather and bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, impressive balance and beguiling harmony. White pepper and curry leaf pop up unexpectedly towards the graceful finish. This is a very talented 2010 with long-term potential. Tasted at the Latricières vertical at La Cabotte, London.HK$47,245.00 -

The 2014 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is armed with darker fruit than other vintages, fine presence, quite tertiary in style with subtle incense aromas. Sensual. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy and smooth entry, sweeter than anticipated though side by side the previous vintage boasts more complexity, especially on the finish that here is quite pastille-like. Fine. Tasted at the Latricières vertical at La Cabotte, London.HK$30,655.00 -

The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru confirms all the promise it showed from barrel, wafting from the glass with a striking nose of cassis, wild berries and plums mingled with smoke, violets, coniferous forest floor and wilted rose petals. Full-bodied, velvety and seamless, it's deep and concentrated, with a deep, textural core of fruit that's underpinned by a lively spine of acidity that carries through the long, penetrating finish.HK$5,860.00 -

The 2020 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru was very impressive from barrel. In bottles, it's the real deal. Very fragrant on the nose with black cherries, raspberry coulis, hints of sous-bois and veins of blue fruit that all gain intensity with aeration. Precocious yet controlled. The palate has very pliant tannins, finely sculpted with impressive weight. Superb acidity and just a subtle twist of bitter cherry on its vivacious finish. Outstanding. This wine features a lovely bright raspberry fruit aroma with a bit of menthol and a suggestion of peony. The tannins are substantial, and there is plenty of acidity to draw the wine to a lovely conclusion. The grapes come from 60 – 65 year old vines in the lower part of Grèves where the soils are a bit deeper. The wine shows a true Grèves character in its restraint, elegance, and balance.HK$2,550.00 -

Six barrels, two from Petit Musigni and four from Les 10 Journaux which is in whole bunch vinification. Two new barrels. A deepish crimson purple. The stems give an exciting lift to the wine to escape from the more muscular side. Significantly rich raspberry and cherry fruit with an excellent suavity of texture. Really well done, I am impressed. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$12,035 - HK$14,710

80 year old vines in deeper soil just below Rugiens, with deep roots which make it consistent each year. Avoided the frost. 30% whole bunch, three new barrels out of ten. A fine mid purple with some depth of fruit. The stems have done their job of lifting the bouquet, this is rather delightful, too much fruit to be called floral but there are some roses in the background too. A little firmer on the palate, and a fresh acidity to finish. Promising. Drink from 2027-2034.HK$4,275.00 -

(the yield here was just 24 hectoliters per hectare, according to Rouget) Good full red. Pure, tangy, cool aromas of raspberry, licorice and spice. Sweet, pure and lively in the mouth; shows more flesh and much better extraction than the foregoing samples. Finishes with sweet tannins and very good length.HK$127,720.00
