The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is a blend of three parcels, though 50% is Au Combe de Dessus. With 20% new oak, it has an attractive wild strawberry and red plum bouquet. Impressive focus. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-tuned tannins, quite vibrant and lively, orange rind and touches of black pepper furnishing the finish. Give this a year or two in bottle.HK$760.00 -

Combes du Dessus has been assembled into this in 2023. A denser bright purple. The nose is less immediately forthcoming, but there is greater weight of fruit, richer raspberry towards the back of the palate yet with good acidity. The two plots do indeed complement each other. Just bottled. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$1,740 - HK$2,130

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a more introspective bouquet than its peers, with Lapsang Souchong infusing the well-defined raspberry fruit and hints of loam. The palate is well balanced, quite structured and grainy in texture. This is certainly more reductive in style, with blacker fruit possibly indicating more extraction in the winery. Yet it retains balance and has a spicy, almost Oriental hoisin-like freshness towards the finish. Sophisticated for sure, but it needs two or three years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.HK$9,055.00 -

Vinous (90-92)
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village is more backward on the nose compared to the Fixin: blackberry, undergrowth and touch of wilted iris petal. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This feels lithe and sensual, the oak neatly integrated with a silky smooth finish. This should be a peach once in bottle.HK$6,125.00 -
Vinous (90-92)
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village has an attractive nose with quite generous red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, hints of violet. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, tensile and citrus-fresh with an orange peel infused finish. Very fine.HK$4,115.00 -

Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)
The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Village, taken from tank, is more reticent and backward on the nose, demanding coaxing from the glass. It offers darker fruit than the Fixins and is a touch tertiary in style. The medium-bodied palate features fine tannins and seductive dark berry fruit mixed with white pepper and a hint of cola. Very refined and persistent, this is a classy Vosne Village.HK$2,730 - HK$3,335

(12x75cl) 1998Vinous (91)
Saturated medium ruby. Penetrating, superripe, slightly porty aromas of medicinal black cherry, cocoa powder, menthol and damp earth. Generous, pliant and really stuffed with fruit; very solid wine with lovely restrained sweetness. Powerful flavor of black plum outlasts the big chewy-but-ripe tannins. This will get sweeter as the tannins melt. But the '99 may be even more impressive.HK$13,570.00 -
