  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2004 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (92+)

Medium red. Reticent but complex aromas of redcurrant, earth, mocha, iron, tobacco, underbrush and menthol. Suave and fine-grained, with highly nuanced flavors of redcurrant, leather, earth, game and mocha. Offers more volume and aging potential than the Lavaux, but this still-young wine is much less expressive today. Finishes sweet, supple and very long, with suave, fine tannins.

  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2005 (1x150cl)

    Jancis Robinson (18+)

Vines planted in 1960. Destemmed whole berries with a light cold soak. Three weeks’ maceration in total. 35% new oak. Two months in stainless steel after 18 months in oak. Very heavy bottle... Mid crimson – not an eye-catching grand cru intensity of colour. Heady nose with the merest suggestion of decay. Masses of sweetness and still a bit of dusty tannin and introspection. There is so much here but it’s not quite ready for public display. Truly massive in scale – this wine is still a bit brutal. For the moment it’s a little dry on the end.

    Wine Advocate (94)

The 2009 Chambertin is utterly impeccable from start to finish. Layers of fruit fill out the wine’s broad-shouldered frame, leading to a voluptuous, seamless crescendo of aromas and flavors. The 2009 possesses tons of intensity and fabulous overall balance. What a great showing. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039.
  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2010 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (92-95)

(made from the equivalent of 2-1/2 barrels of fruit and 1 barrel of wine): Good full, bright red. Highly complex nose combines cherry, raspberry, spices, flowers, minerals and crushed stone. Sweet, fine-grained and concentrated; at once powerful and suave thanks to its excellent balance. Finishes sappy, saline, stony and long, leaving the mouth feeling refreshed.
  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2013 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (93+)

Bright, dark red. Cool, highly nuanced aromas of raspberry, mint, coffee, licorice and crushed stone. Then lush, sweet and seamless in the mouth, maintaining the fresh but ripe impression. Wonderfully plush and utterly without rough edges, with flavors of red raspberry and cool minerality lifted by a seductive floral element. (This fruit is all from the Clos de Bèze side of Chambertin, right above Leroy's holding, according to David Croix.) A superb cold version of Chambertin 2013 but not particularly austere owing to the wine's seamless texture and noble tannins.
  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (93-96)

Camille Giroud's 2015 Chambertin is seamless, rich and inviting. Dark cherry, crème de cassis, menthol, licorice, sage and lavender give the wine much of its regal aristocratic bearing, There is something absolutely impeccable about the way all the elements fall into place here. The Chambertin is often a rock star in this lineup. Is that again in 2015. - Antonio Galloni
  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2016 Chambertin Grand Cru has a luscious and generous bouquet with plenty of raspberry preserve and crushed strawberry scents, seamlessly integrated oak and entrancing mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, pliant and velvety smooth, fanning out with supreme confidence towards the pixelated finish. Brilliant. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 (3x150cl)

    Vinous (97)

The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru has quite a meaty nose, featuring plenty of brambly red fruit, desiccated orange peel and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-fresh entry. This is a more zesty Chambertin, lively and even a little tart toward the finish. Does it convey the substance of this noble vineyard? I’m not convinced, and that is perhaps reflective of the vintage, yet after 15 minutes it seems to gain extra layers of complexity, and it's only then you realize that this is the real deal. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru is more backward on the nose than Rossignol-Trapet’s Chambertin tasting blind alongside, the fruit is high-toned and darker, whilst the oak is a little more prominent. It loses a bit of finesse and complexity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, lightly spiced, quite muscular in style with a flattering finish. Yet, it lacks the effortlessness of the finest Chambertins in this vintage and there is just a slight sour aftertaste. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95-97)

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru is very well-defined and focused on the nose, mineral-rich black fruit, sous-bois and cedar emerging with time, conveying a sense of effortlessness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, an almost symmetrical balance with a poised, pixelated finish. This is an outstanding Chambertin that will age with style. • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2021 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (94)

The 2021 Chambertin Grand Cru was one of a handful of crus out of sorts from barrel but now in bottle, I am happy to report that it is a completely different wine. It has a delectable bouquet with beautifully defined red berry fruit, wild hedgerow and wilted rose petal that unfolds so delicately in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crunchy red fruit, crisp and saline. There is just a touch of soy in the background that lends it an almost Oriental finish. Very harmonious with a long and quite assertive ferrous finish, this is a fine and actually quite feisty Chambertin. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

  • Camille Giroud Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (88-91)

The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin is a soft-open knit wine with mid-weight structure and good overall persistence. This is the only wine in the range I tasted from tank. Perhaps for that reason, the Charmes is a bit reticent. It will be interesting to see if the wine gains more volume. The decision to move this wine into tank and bottle it early, suggests it may not have the depth of the best wines in the range. - Antonio Galloni

The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru shows the 60% whole bunch on the nose, slightly overshadowing the blackberry and briary aromas. It’s quite Morey-like in style. The palate is well balanced with a structured opening, though perhaps not quite as precise and as elegant as the Clos de la Roche. There’s a touch of dryness on the finish.

  • Camille Giroud Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92-95)

The 2015 Clos de Vougeot is an impressive wine. Huge tannins give the 2015 much of its shape and sense of direction. Plum, crème de cassis, chocolate and lavender all develop in the glass. Ample and powerful in construction, the 2015 possesses very good depth, even if it can't match the pedigree of the Chambertin. This is another wine with a late malo. I hope to have a chance to taste it again from bottle. - Antonio Galloni

The firm tannins and brilliant, chiseled minerality suggest the 2012 will drink beautifully for many years, once all the elements have come together a little more fully.
