The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a gentle grip in the mouth, showing good weight and presence with a lively, surprisingly structured finish that retains sufficient finesse. Silky on entry, then concentrated, supple and juicy, showing lovely violet and chalky mineral lift to the black cherry fruit. The crop level was down 60% due to the frost but there's nothing clenched about this wine today. Finishes with ripe, fine-grained tannins and excellent spicy length. This vineyard just below the forest has benefited from global warming, noted Taupenot. |

The sleek, cool and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors possess both a bit more volume and noticeably more punch on the delicious yet entirely serious finish that is at once well-balanced and persistent. This lovely Gevrey villages is worth checking out. |

Juxtaposed against the 2011 and 2013, the 2012 has a little more length and depth, and more mineralité on the finish. You could broach this now, though personally I would wait another couple of years. |

The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red berry fruit laced with white pepper and orange peel. I appreciate the cohesion and length of this grand cru, one filled with panache to the last sip. Taut and fresh with perhaps the most saline finish of all Romain Taupenot’s cuvées this year, it is destined to be a wonderful Mazoyères-Chambertin for sure. Best in show chez Taupenot-Merme. |
