Vinous (90-93)(50% vendange entier; from vines planted in 1975): Healthy dark red. Very ripe, tangy, alluring aromas of black raspberry, licorice, spices and black pepper lifted by a delicate floral element. Wonderfully fine-grained, savory and vibrant, with intense berry fruit energized by saline minerality. An elegantly styled Corton grand cru with terrific definition but no shortage of richness. Finishes vibrant and long, with harmonious, smooth tannins. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2019 Corton Les Maréchaudes Grand Cru is almost understated on the nose, gradually unfurling with raspberry and wild strawberry scents and touches of brown spice and sandalwood; impressive complexity here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, beautifully knit red berry fruit and a judicious sprinkling of black pepper and clove. Understated but already extremely more-ish on the finish. My advice is to have a second bottle handy! |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91-93)The 2018 Pernand-Vergelesses Ile de Vergelesses 1er Cru comes from mid-slope, east-facing vines on limestone-clay soils. This offers more clarity and delineation than the Les Vergelesses, with vivid red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, quite saline and a little spicier than the Vergelesses, with a longer tail on the finish. This is superb. What you might call proper red Burgundy! |

Burgundy | 2 | 90-92 (VN) | HK$6,510.00 | |||||
Vinous (90-92)The 2019 Pernand-Vergelesses Ile de Vergelesses 1er Cru was more muted on the nose, dark berry fruit mingling with autumn leaves and earthy notes. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry. This has more substance than the preceding Savigny Les Lavières, and more grip, with subtle mushroom notes combining with red fruit on the finish. This should drink well over the next 10–12 years. |

Vinous (92)The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru, already in bottle, has a vibrant, spicy, rose petal and violet bouquet that is even more intense than the Aux Fournaux. The chalk/limestone terroir really shows through here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. It does not quite have the charm and crystalline quality of the Aux Fournaux, but is more masculine and structured, with a lovely marine element tincturing the dark berry fruit toward the chalky finish. Excellent. |

Vinous (89-91)The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru shows evident whole bunch on the nose that slightly occludes the terroir expression, yet it is fresh and transparent. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp raspberry and blackberry opening. Leafy red fruit combines with a touch of graphite toward the finish. A nimble Savigny with a peppery finish. Should drink well over the next decade. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru has a pure, perfumed bouquet with scents of raspberry and peony, the 100% whole bunch barely perceptable. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, a fine bead of acidity, cohesive with fine backbone and a slightly peppery, clove-tinged finish. Wonderful. |

Wine Spectator (92)Cherry compote, raspberry and floral aromas and flavors highlight this supple red, which is well-integrated and firmly structured, with fine length and the potential for aging. |

Wine Advocate (91)The 2016 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Fèves offers up aromas of dark berry fruit, baking chocolate, potpourri, exotic spices and smoked meats, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy palate with powdery structuring tannins and a generous core of sapid fruit. This is a strong showing for this Chandon monopole. |
