The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, beautifully knit red berry fruit and a judicious sprinkling of black pepper and clove. Understated but already extremely more-ish on the finish. My advice is to have a second bottle handy! |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91-93)The 2018 Pernand-Vergelesses Ile de Vergelesses 1er Cru comes from mid-slope, east-facing vines on limestone-clay soils. This offers more clarity and delineation than the Les Vergelesses, with vivid red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, quite saline and a little spicier than the Vergelesses, with a longer tail on the finish. This is superb. What you might call proper red Burgundy! |
