The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a gentle grip in the mouth, showing good weight and presence with a lively, surprisingly structured finish that retains sufficient finesse. This is showing well and should give drinking pleasure over the next decade. Tasted at Flint Wines’ Taupenot-Merme retrospective. |

The crop level was down 60% due to the frost but there's nothing clenched about this wine today. Finishes with ripe, fine-grained tannins and excellent spicy length. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red berry fruit laced with white pepper and orange peel. I appreciate the cohesion and length of this grand cru, one filled with panache to the last sip. This is a brilliant performance from Taupenot-Merme and it totally outclassed the Charmes-Chambertin tasted alongside. Tasted September 2017. |
