Burghound (92-94)
A relatively deeply pitched nose offers plenty of both floral and spice elements along with notes of plum, dark cherry and a touch of Asian-style tea. As is usually the case there is excellent volume and a taut muscularity to the sappy broad-shouldered flavors that flash superb depth and persistence. Note well though that this classic example is definitely built-to-age and is going to need at least most of a decade to be approachable. Recommended.HK$1,745.00 -

James Suckling (94)
A fragrant and complex Vosne-Romanée with deep black-cherry and floral notes on the nose. Then comes the rich and very elegant palate, the tannins almost completely masked by the fruit, until you reach the very powerful yet polished finish. Try in 2023.HK$4,930.00 -
Vinous (94)
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru is showing some reduction on the nose, slightly smudged red fruit, leather and undergrowth. It does seem to gain clarity with modest aeration though. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and crisp, quite linear with fine sapidity on the structure, backward finish. A Premier Cru with a long future ahead. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.HK$5,995.00 -
Burghound (92-94)
(from a large 1.76 ha parcel). Here too there is enough wood to notice but not to intrude on the exceptionally spicy and overtly floral-suffused nose of dark currant and plum. There is outstanding intensity, muscle and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract on the sappy, mouth coating, robust and youthfully austere finish that goes on and on. This is excellent and worth checking out. (92-94)/2037+HK$7,230.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)
Pure beautiful purple, with the nose of exceptional hedonistic class associated with this vineyard. One can detect the remains of a little reduction in the mouth, which holds it back a fraction at this stage, but this is still a really good wine underneath and will be thoroughly exciting. It has the Malconsorts magic. Drink from 2026-2032.HK$2,050.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)
A fine deep purple, with brilliance. The bouquet has the energy which we expect with that extra note of headiness. The Malconsorts opens out gorgeously and is kept fresh by a good thread of acidity. Pure, long, fine, lifted, medium plus bodied but there is a little bit of majesty here nonetheless. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted: October 2023.HK$10,920.00 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (93-95)
The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru was picked on September 9 with 25% whole cluster and 35% new oak. It offers pretty cranberry and wild strawberry scents on the nose, well-defined, if not quite as complex as its peers. The palate is well balanced with crisp, slightly crunchy red berry fruit on the entry. There is something "playful" about this Les Malconsorts. It doesn't take itself too seriously, yet there is ample tension and considerable mineralité on the finish. Not to be underestimated.HK$11,555.00 -
Burghound (89-91)
Much more subtle wood sets off overtly spicy aromas of cassis, black cherry and violet scents. The wonderfully seductive flavors possess a velvety and caressing texture while delivering sneaky good length on the firm but balanced structure. This is inviting but serious and it should repay up to a decade of cellaring. Worth checking out.HK$1,365.00 -

A pretty, fresh and layered nose reflects notes of red currant, lavender, violet and subtle spice notes. There is a really lovely and highly seductive texture to the satiny flavors that culminate in a firm and mildly robust but not really rustic finish. This is worth checking out.HK$760.00 -

(the blend is mostly from Damaudes with a small proportion of Basses Maizières). A fresh, cool and restrained nose combines notes of cherry, plum and a whiff of spiced tea. I very much like the texture of the nicely detailed and quite powerful medium weight flavors that terminate in a youthfully austere, and sneaky long finish that displays fine complexity. This is an impressive Vosne villages and worth your interest. (89-92)/2029+HK$815.00 -

A blend of Damodes du bas and Basses Maizières, picked on 3rd and 7th September. Attractive mid purple. Some nobility to the nose but in a discreet way. This is happily balanced with excellent class, heady Vosne fruit, even some spice, then a firmer tannin, but this works really well. Damodes gives the lift, Maizières the body. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: October 2023.HK$4,055.00 -

5 Star Wine. A blend of Les Damaudes and Basses Maizières, elegance from the former and weight from the latter. An attractive fresh ruby. The bouquet is absolutely Vosne Romanée in its classy petits fruits rouges. Then there is more concentration on the palate, as the Maizières component kicks in. The whole blends well together to a very classy finish. All the structural elements are in place while the raspberry fruit gains in intensity towards the back. Drink from 2028-2035. The 2019 Monthélie Village is a little more backward on the nose compared to the Auxey-Duresses, well defined but just a bit timid at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, nicely structured with dark berry fruit towards the finish.HK$26,770.00 -

The 2022 Bourgogne Rouge has a bright, perky bouquet with touches of red cherry and blueberry. The palate is well balanced, quite tensile and lively with ample depth and a more peppery finish than many of its peers. You could knock this back now if you want (why not?), but it will age for four or five years.HK$14,815.00 -

The 2019 Meursault Rouge is showing especially well, delivering a generous bouquet of raspberries, blackberries, warm spices and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and charming, with lively acids and powdery tannins, it will be unusually approachable young by the standards of a bottling that typically demands a little patience.HK$2,515.00 -

The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru—as usual, a blend of Taillepieds and Clos des Chênes—is lovely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries, raw cocoa and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, with tangy acids and a concentrated core of fruit, it's bright and elegant, built for slow evolution in the cellar.HK$4,980.00 -

The usual blend of Taillepieds and Clos des Chênes, from a parcel that straddles the border of the two climats, Coche's 2022 Volnay 1er Cru offers up aromas of sweet berries, cherries, peonies and vine smoke, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and fleshy palate that's bright, lively and precise.HK$8,405.00 -
