The 2015 Puligny Montrachet Village is instantly more expressive on the nose compared to the Chassagne-Montrachet with bright Granny Smith apples, cold limestone and even a surprising hint of Turkish Delight adding a soupçon of exoticism. The palate is very well balanced with an attractive sense of airiness. This is very well defined with a tangy touch of ginger towards the saline finish that lingers long on the aftertaste. Like the Santenay Blanc, this is a village cru punching well above its weight and as a result, it comes highly recommended.HK$9,125.00 -

The 2015 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a crisp, precise bouquet of Granny Smith apples, crushed stone and a touch of citrus peel. The palate is well-defined, with blood orange, peach and light nougat notes derived from oak that is neatly subsumed. There is a touch of ginger surfacing toward the finish, and long persistence. A lively Perrières that is, for want of a better expression, full of beans. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.HK$2,750.00 -

(6x75cl) 2015Burghound (91)
Like the Grèves, there is just enough volatile acidity to warrant mentioning on the ultra-spicy nose of various dark berries, plum and pretty floral notes. The suave, round and exceptionally rich medium weight plus flavors are very Vosne in character before culminating in a palate coating, robust and well-balanced finish. This is very clearly built-to-age and as I have mentioned in several of the above reviews, my only concern revolves around the VA. This is to say that at present it's no more than a nit but it's impossible to say how it will progress, if at all, with time in bottle. As such my score offers the benefit of the doubt that the VA will remain a background element.HK$5,500.00 -
(1x150cl) 2015Vinous (93-96)
(50% new oak; vinified with two-thirds whole clusters): Healthy medium red. Knockout nose combines musky raspberry and complex soil tones. Began a bit monolithic on the palate, but aeration brought an increasingly silky texture and a captivating blend of raspberry and crushed rock lifted by spices. Still youthfully tight, this rather saline Chambertin is just beginning to express itself. Finishes with serious tannins and outstanding length. One can feel the power here, but this very tactile wine is quite unevolved. The finish offers terrific definition and lift.HK$5,995.00 -

The 2015 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has an immediately seductive, extremely pure bouquet of bright red fruit, strawberry and cranberry; hints of blueberry surface with aeration. The oak is very well integrated, and with continued aeration in the glass, the raspberry component becomes more expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit encased by grippy, slightly firm tannins. This is a very serious Grand Cru, extraordinarily focused and full of tension; the mouth still tingles 60 seconds after it has exited. A consummate expression of a great Burgundy vintage. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.HK$12,285.00 -

I seldom taste the regional appellations on my visits to the Domaine Dugat-Py, so when I saw the 2015 Bourgogne Cuvée Halinard on a Côte d'Or wine list, I made a point of ordering it. This is a lovely wine, wafting from the glass with a classy bouquet of red cherries, cassis, grilled meat and rich soil, subtly framed by a judicious touch of recently used oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a deep core of ripe but savory fruit, fine-grained structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish, with juicy balancing acids. The substance that is this domaine's calling card is certainly present, and it will undoubtedly improve with five to ten years of bottle age—at maturity, I suspect it will embarrass many village wines. Interestingly, it's both a touch more savory and a touch more structured than the lovely 2015 Bourgogne Rouge from Domaine Claude Dugat that I tasted a few days before.HK$5,995.00 -

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot is a stunning success, offering up a deep and already complex bouquet of pear, pastry cream, wheat toast, iodine, lemon oil and hazelnut. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, authoritative and multidimensional, with wonderful depth and dimension and considerable extract, underpinned by succulent acids, its finish long and mineral. This is an imposing Morgeot that captures the power while avoiding the corpulence of which this climat is capable.HK$1,530.00 -

Alluring nose combines lemon, lime, crushed rock and a sexy leesy element. Dense and thick but with terrific mineral spine and energy to its flavors of citrus fruits and white flowers. Great unmistakable Burgundy funk here. Moreau told me that this wine is fairly low in acidity but its saline minerality nonetheless gives it a penetrating quality. Mounts slowly and stains the palate on the very long aftertaste. Superb wild, musky wine with unexpected precision. Deceptively tasteable early on, as Chevalier-Montrachet can be, but lay this one down.HK$17,855.00 -

We found the wines in 2015 very easy and forward to taste, with as much focus on freshness as concentration, so there wasn’t a complete break from the 2014s in that sense. The hope is that as the wines mature they will continue to show the balance and classicism they displayed from the barrel. Our expectation is that they will do so and the best wines will live for a very long time with a genuinely satisfying pattern of maturation throughout their life.
