Vinous (94+)Medium red, a bit less saturated than the Clos Vougeot. Deeper aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, flinty smoky minerality and pepper, along with a whiff of gamey reduction. Bigger, broader and sweeter than the Clos Vougeot, and amazingly supple and plump for a grand cru from this vintage, without any loss of shape. The back end is like a booster rocket of fruits and flowers, which cover the wine's acidity and noble tannins today. I'd love to taste this next to the Clos Vougeot in ten years' time. |

Vinous (93+)Bright medium red. Redder on the nose than the Clos Vougeot, offering high-pitched aromas of cherry, raspberry and menthol. Combines terrific inner-mouth lift with a refined texture, conveying an impression of tension to the flavors of red cherry, minerals and flowers. The tannins are suave and cool. This seamless wine really glistens on the middle palate and long aftertaste. |

Vinous (93+)Bright medium red. Perfumed scents of black raspberry and espresso are complicated by soil-driven smoke and crushed-rock notes. The richest and most tactile of these young 2014s but also with great finesse to the flavors of red berries, rose petal, saline minerality and pepper. The wine's tannins are serious and deep but not hard. This true-to-its-terroir beauty really saturates the palate under a wave of flavor. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2019 Richebourg Grand Cru is very pure and focused, featuring strawberry, raspberry, orange peel and blood orange aromas; a hint of black truffle emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm but fine tannins. Wonderfully focused, spicier and more savory than the 2018, leading into a long finish, this is a superb Richebourg, even if at the moment I would like to see more of its aristocratic origin. |
