Wine Advocate (90)Jacques Carillon’s 2016 Puligny-Montrachet Village is showing well from bottle, offering up notes of white peach, crisp apple, citrus zest and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, tensile and tangy, with a crisp, chiseled profile by comparison with the more gourmand, exuberant 2017 rendition—indeed, it's much more tight-knit than it appeared before bottling. It was cropped at some 50 hectoliters per hectare and didn't suffer badly from the frosts. Its lean but concentrated format will reward some bottle age with a very classic expression of Puligny. |

Vinous (89)The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Village, a blend of several parcels, has a light Granny Smith and wet limestone-scented bouquet. It could benefit from more intensity. The palate is well balanced with more depth than expected, fine acidity though it just misses a little complexity and tension on the finish. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91)A light green streak in the pale colour. The refinement and the precision set this apart from 2023. The fruit remains discreet, with some fresh apple on the palate, certainly more backward, yet promising for the future thanks to the persistence. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Oct 2024. |

Vinous (94)Bright medium red. Expressive aromas of raspberry, mocha, brown spices and underbrush. Juicy, fine-grained and light on its feet, offering a rare combination of soil tones, fresh red fruits, minerals, herbs and leather. Delivers terrific delineation without any impression of weight. Flavors of raspberry, coffee and saline minerality perk up the salivary glands on the vibrant, rising finish. Just a touch imploded today--and I suppose it's possible that this wine will further close down in bottle. But it's wonderfully expressive today. |

Jancis Robinson (18.5)In the middle of the vineyard. Terres rouges and terres blanches. Small parcel so assembled from the start. Barrel sample. Seductive aroma but in a much richer style than the Clos de la Maréchale. Smells deep and seductive. A perfume I would love to be enveloped in. Sour red cherry and a touch of orange as well as floral. Complex and expressive. Beauty of fruit purity on the palate, like biting into a perfect red cherry, crunchy but sweet and tangy. The tannins are spicy and refined. A complete wine with succulence, fine-boned structure and intensity though not apparently dense. |
