(Don't Miss! Outstanding) Firm reduction and a whiff of oak dominate the nose at present. Much more interesting are the beautifully textured, racy and detailed medium weight flavors that also possess a highly sophisticated mouthfeel while exhibiting stunningly good length on the bitter zest-inflected finish that goes on and on. This is terrific and easily delivers grand cru quality.HK$34,290.00 -

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles reasserts its traditional role as Leflaive's dominant premier cru this year, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, clear honey, white flowers and orange oil, framed by a deft touch of youthful reduction. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's pure and enveloping, with a sweet core of fruit, lively acids and a long, precise finish.HK$9,587.60 -

(still in tank): Bright pale yellow. Pure, subtle aromas of peach, lemon, floral oils and spices. Silky, suave and gentle but with excellent density for village wine. Quite laid-back today, with good mineral tension from start to finish. Finishes long and youthfully tight, and noticeably less sweetness than the very promising Bourgogne Blanc (also in tank) that preceded it in my tasting.HK$4,040.00 -

The 2014 Puligny Montrachet Village Cru offers lilting dewy green apple and wet limestone aromas on the nose, underneath subtle scents of orange blossom lending more complexity as it opens in the glass. The palate is crisp and fresh with a twist of bitter lemon on the entry. This is well balanced with good weight, plenty of energy on the tip of the tongue with a pleasant saline finish. It does not quite possess the drive of the premier crus, although there is a pleasant spicy note that pops up on the aftertaste. Tasted December 2016.HK$3,415.00 -

Fairly light nose. Éric Remy says it is closing up. Again, very notable acidity. I would hold this quite a while. Certainly no hint of fat here. Quite uncompromising at the moment. Where’s the flesh? Lots of chalky chew on the end.HK$16,765.00 -

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Village has a taut, crisp bouquet with scents of wet limestone, sea spray and green apple. There is fine delineation here, and more intensity than I was anticipating for a Village Cru. The palate is well balanced with subtle passion fruit and citrus notes on the entry, good weight in the mouth and fine acidity, though not as complex on the finish as other Village Crus I have tasted from Leflaive. Therefore I suspect this will be ideal for early drinking.HK$14,415.00 -

5-Star Wine Just bottled at the end of April. Made from the usual six plots. A pale lemon yellow. The nose has been knocked back a bit and is not yet showing much fruit. Then a little white fruit starts to emerge with some graphite, and a little bit of gunflint. Racy yet ripe with several layers of flavour and excellent length, the acidity perfectly wound in. On the assumption that the bouquet comes back as it should a little later on, after getting over the bottling, this will surely be a 5 star wineHK$4,395.00 -

(Outstanding) An elegant, pure and more floral nose offers up its combination of green apple, prominent citrus and crushed fennel nuances. There is borderline painful intensity to the appealingly textured medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality, chiseled, balanced and long finish that is quite dry but not really austere. This is an excellent Puligny villages that is also worth strong consideration.HK$2,575.00 -
Burghound (90-92)
Outstanding. A markedly more floral-suffused nose features notes of cool Granny Smith apple, citrus and a touch of mineral reduction. The caressing, delicious and plump but agreeably energetic medium-bodied flavors possess solid depth and persistence on the balanced, firm and highly refreshing finale. This is also excellent for its level and a wine that should drink well after only 3 to 4 years of keeping but age gracefully for a decade. Recommended.HK$5,300.00 -

The 2009 Corton-Charlemagne is a huge wine, but like all of Lalou Bize’s 2009s, the whites are taking longer to recover from their bottling than the reds. There is plenty of depth and richness in the glass, but this still needs a few years in bottle to come together. Smoke, spices and wet stones frame the intense finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019+.HK$79,675.00 -

The 2014 Corton-Charlemagne is massively reduced, as these wines often are at this stage. Orchard fruit, lemon peel, mint and crushed rocks give the wine its tense and overall energy. It's hard to say how much of the reduction will eventually disappear.HK$333,160.00 -

Pale yellow. White peach and minerals on the nose. Fat on entry, then silky and plush in the middle, with a saline minerality to the dried peach flavor. Rather closed today and less pure than the Combettes. Also more large than long. Does this have the structure to repay aging?HK$29,550.00
