More yellow in the colour, a waxy flesh, slight evolution in the sample, I cannot quite see the stones up front. They do appear on the palate and the wine extends very well through to a flinty finish, with some saline notes right at the back. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$5,535.00 -

Pale lemon yellow. One of the very ripe exotic noses, a little touch of peach and mango, but it then refines to offer more precision, enough of the steely backbone of true Pucelles. Finishes in fine style, by way of these more exotic notes which may become less evident as the core fruit develops. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$11,095.00 -

5 Star Wine. Really ancient vines (100-120 years) in what would otherwise be village Fixin. Long vines (to take advantage of holes left by their deceased brethren) with up to 25 very small bunches per vine. Fascinating. Picked on 1st October This displays Aligoté aromatics but almost a chardonnay flesh and some peaches to finish, I find it quite amazing. Fresh as well as plump, it is hard to believe the length. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$2,415.00 -

Similar colour, with clearly greater weight immediately obvious, not heavy. Maybe a first hint of honeysuckle. Solid and spicy on the palate, so far away from being ready to bottle let alone drink. Superb intensity of course, extra weight comes mostly at the back of the palate, the acidity holds it up very well, impressive persistence, all very fine indeed.HK$26,375.00 -

Pale lemon and lime. This time the oak has a light coconut effect. There is notably more body to this compared to Clos St Marc, while the thread of citrus acidity retains an equal balance. The fruit includes some little yellow plums, and continues through to an extended finish. A keeper.HK$7,325.00 -

Vinous (89)
The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 1er Cru has a rich, almost decadent bouquet of billowing clementine, mango and vanilla aromas that are attractive but missing some definition. The palate is balanced, offering lime and orange zest and a pretty, slightly saline finish that lingers in the mouth; it lacks precision but there is satisfying length. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.HK$1,565.00 -

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Vergers Clos Saint-Marc 1er Cru has a significant struck-match aroma on the nose that obscures delineation and terroir expression, and it doesn’t get much better with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft entry and lower acidity than its peers. Simple compared to others, and a little overworked toward the finish, but it does improve significantly in the glass.
