Tim Atkin MW (96)A bit of a mysterious wine as there is so little of it and wasn't even made for 20 years while the new vines were settling in, this is always a treat to taste. This is the seventh commercialized vintage with the revitalized vineyard, and it is utterly charming. Starting with match strike and Comice pear, the palate doubles down with riper flavors – including tropical fruits – and plentiful fresh herb lift. The well-knit acidity meshes seamlessly with the medium body lightly brushed with classy oak. It finishes long, dry and refreshing. 2023-34 |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)The white Musigny was racked just before the harvest, now back in barrel. Clear pale colour even with a faint green reflection. Rather a beautiful gently perfumed nose, flinty yet fine, this year the Musigny Blanc does seem like grand cru quality. A little lemongrass and then a crystalline white fruit. Really promising. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-96)Bottled end October. Fine pale lemon colour with a definite green tint. Tense powerful crisp fruit, the crunchy side of orchard fruit, then builds in richness to the back, before rediscovering its minerality to finish. Notably persistent, I can see the point in Musigny Blanc more easily than I used to! Drink from 2030-2040. |

The Comte Senard Corton-Charlemagne Blanc 2020 is a world-class, grand cru white Burgundy emanating from the illustrious vineyards of Aloxe-Corton, at the heart of Côte de Beaune. Crafted by the Comte Senard estate, renowned for their focus on bio-dynamics, this wine stands as a perfect depiction of the vineyard's age-old traditions and innovative techniques. Intricately picked by hand, this Chardonnay boasts a rich amalgam of citrus, apple and stone fruit aromas, aged on the lees in 100% new French oak barrels for a touch of complexity and finesse. A second, malolactic fermentation is conducted to bestow the wine with its opulent, buttery profile. Illicit flavours of honey, toasted nuts and minerality, with bracing acidity, lend the Comte Senard Corton-Charlemagne Blanc 2020 its exceptional balance. A splendid embodiment of the Corton-Charlemagne appellation, this wine is an undeniable testament to the grandeur of fine French viticulture. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (92-95)Lively aromas of apple, lemon, minerals and vanilla bean. Creamy sweet and wonderfully intense, with tangy freshness and complicating floral notes. Finishes with explosive fruit. From 75-year-old vines, to comprise roughly half the ultimate blend: Penetrating lemon oil and charred oak aromas. Extremely rich and powerful, with the wine's strong mineral character contributing to the impression of dryness. Really gripping, tactile finish. Large-scaled but uncommonly elegant Charmes. |

Vinous (93-95)(tasted from tank) Aromas of peach and vanilla. Rich, fat and classically dry, with compelling purity to the lemon, crushed stone and mineral flavors. Perfectly integrated acidity extends the palate-staining, layered finish. With a blend of 15-, 45- and 75-year-old vines in his 1.7-hectares holding in Charmes, Lafon has the flexibility each year to make one of Burgundy's top Meursault bottlings. |

Vinous (93-95)(tasted from barrel; the wine was scheduled to be racked the week after my visit) Restrained nose hints at candied citrus peel, flowers, vanilla and smoky lees. On the palate, lovely sweetness is perfectly buffered by ripe acidity, but this is very backward and minerally wine-more Perrieres-like than most other growers' Perrieres. Taut and uncompromising, and less showy than the Genevrieres. |

Vinous (93+)(bottled the day before my visit; aged in 40% new oak): Complex, vibrant aromas of peach, orange zest and lemon accented by white pepper. Rich, ripe, tactile and sweet, with the intense citrus and stone fruit flavors accented by peppery spices and complicated by vanilla and leesy nuances. A very good showing today, but this is still a baby. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (95)The 2015 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru is taut and linear, more reticent than the Clos de la Barre at the moment, yet it evolves in the glass and reveals a Perrières-like stoniness. The palate pivots around a silver bead of acidity with citrus peel and nectarine notes, demonstrating greater depth than its peers on the powerful finish. Superb! Tasted at the 05/15 Burgundy dinner in The Good Earth. |
