A bit of a mysterious wine as there is so little of it and wasn't even made for 20 years while the new vines were settling in, this is always a treat to taste. This is the seventh commercialized vintage with the revitalized vineyard, and it is utterly charming. Starting with match strike and Comice pear, the palate doubles down with riper flavors – including tropical fruits – and plentiful fresh herb lift. Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)

The white Musigny was racked just before the harvest, now back in barrel. Clear pale colour even with a faint green reflection. Rather a beautiful gently perfumed nose, flinty yet fine, this year the Musigny Blanc does seem like grand cru quality. A little lemongrass and then a crystalline white fruit. Really promising.

Bottled end October. Fine pale lemon colour with a definite green tint. Tense powerful crisp fruit, the crunchy side of orchard fruit, then builds in richness to the back, before rediscovering its minerality to finish. (tasted from barrel; the wine was scheduled to be racked the week after my visit) Restrained nose hints at candied citrus peel, flowers, vanilla and smoky lees. On the palate, lovely sweetness is perfectly buffered by ripe acidity, but this is very backward and minerally wine-more Perrieres-like than most other growers' Perrieres. Taut and uncompromising, and less showy than the Genevrieres.

The 2015 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru is taut and linear, more reticent than the Clos de la Barre at the moment, yet it evolves in the glass and reveals a Perrières-like stoniness. The palate pivots around a silver bead of acidity with citrus peel and nectarine notes, demonstrating greater depth than its peers on the powerful finish. Superb!
