  • Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut 2008 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

Disgorged in early 2024 without dosage yet carrying three grams of residual sugar, the 2008 Blanc de Blancs Collection unfurls in the glass with a deep bouquet of lemon oil, Granny Smith apple and smoke, mingled with iodine, roasted cacao bean and burnt buttered toast. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and concentrated, textural yet incisive, with impressive depth at its tightly knit core, underpinned by a bright spine of acidity and culminating in a long, chalky finish. Already highly pleasurable, it nevertheless possesses the structure to withstand the test of time. The cuvée incorporates fruit sourced from the six grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs.

5 Star Wine. Another fine release from Delamotte. Stone-fruits to the fore, with emerging toasty aromas. Vivacious, mouth-watering and devilishly moreish. This is one of the finest Grand Marque expressions of the macro terroir of the Cote des Blancs and a relative bargain.

  • Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut 2018 (6x75cl)

    Jancis Robinson (17)

100% Chardonnay. One of Champagne’s more ancient houses, founded in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger back in 1721. A blend of six grands crus – Le Mesnil (20%), Avize (20%), Oger (20%), Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry. Dosage 5 g/l. Cool, crisp and unmistakably Chardonnay on both nose and palate. A touch of oak adds to the complexity on the palate. Savoury finish. Precise, lingering aftertaste, plenty of upside ageing potential.

  • Delamotte Blanc de Blancs NV (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (93)

A bright silver/yellow color, the NV Champagne Blanc De Blancs Brut is based on the 2020 vintage and was aged for 48 months sur latte. Coming from Avize, Mesnil, and Oger, it has a very pretty and inviting, open feel with notes of green apples, pretty flowers, lemon-lime citrus, and chalky powder. Medium-bodied, it boasts a refined and elegantly rounded mousse, complemented by a clean and saline finish. Drink over the coming 10-15 years,

  • Delamotte Brut NV (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (91)

From the heart of La Côte de Blancs, the NV Champagne Brut is based on the 2021 vintage and features a classic blend of 60% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and the remainder Meunier grown on chalky soils at different orientations and altitudes. A brilliant pale yellow hue, it’s very pretty on the nose, with inviting aromas of green apples, pears, and citrus. The 2021 vintage offers good freshness and bright acidity, along with nice tension. Open and approachable, with notes of fresh flowers and citrus blossoms as well as the mouthwatering crispness of Pinot Noir, it has a lively, fine mousse, a pithy, chalky texture, and a clean, powdery finish. It’s ready to enjoy as an aperitif now and will drink well over the next 10 years.

  • Deutz Amour de Deutz 2000 (1x600cl)
    (1x600cl) 2000

    Wine Advocate (94)

The 2000 Brut Millesime Amour de Deutz is a rare Blanc de Blancs made from vineyards in Mesnil (60%), Avize (35%) and Villers Marmery (5%) that the estate uses exclusively for charity events and/or gifts, which is a shame since that means only a few people will ever have an opportunity to taste it. The Amour de Deutz bursts from the glass with endless layers of mineral-infused fruit, showing marvelous intensity and richness. Pears, apples and flowers linger on the finish. Disgorged 12/10/2009. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.

    (1x600cl) 2005

    Vinous (92)

(100% chardonnay grown in Le Mesnil, Avize and Villers-Marmery; disgorged October 12, 2011; LA109D29111): Bright yellow-gold. A heady, complex bouquet evokes dried citrus fruits, quince, white flowers and iodine, with a hint of truffle in the background. Shows both power and finesse, offering lively Meyer lemon, orange pith and fresh fig flavors. The floral quality builds with air and carries through a very long, mineral-accented finish.
  • Deutz Amour de Deutz 2008 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (95)

The citrus-colored 2008 Amour de Deutz Brut Millésime is still yeasty on the nose, but very clear and elegant on the palate. This is a super pure and mineral, well-balanced Millésime with a long, intense and persistent finish. This is full of tension and finesse. A great wine.

  • Deutz Amour de Deutz 2011 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (91)

The 2011 Brut Amour de Deutz is a gorgeous Champagne, especially for the year. Lemon confit, tangerine oil, brioche and tropical accents give the 2011 its extroverted personality. I would prefer to drink the 2011 sooner rather than later, just in case the vegetal notes typical of the year emerge, but today it is quite expressive. All the elements are nicely balanced in this rather slender vintage Champagne.

  • Deutz Amour de Deutz 2013 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (95)

Harvested in October, the 2013 Amour de Deutz—disgorged in September 2022 with a dosage of seven grams per liter—has evolved beautifully with additional post-disgorgement maturation. Based heavily on the Côte des Blancs fruit, it offers a profound bouquet of candied lemon, peach, pear, roasted pineapple and gooseberry layered with roasted cacao bean and smoky accents that underscore its subtly reductive signature. These olfactory impressions transition seamlessly onto the medium- to full-bodied palate, which is unusually generous in context of the vintage: fleshy, multidimensional and with a sweet fruit core enlivened with pinpoint mousse. This Blanc de Blancs culminates in a lingering, toasty finish, rendering it irresistibly approachable even at this early stage.

  • Deutz Blanc de Blancs Millesime 1989 (1x75cl)
  • Deutz Blanc de Blancs Millesime 2008 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

Deutz's delicate 2008 Blanc de Blancs Brut has a brillant citrus yellow color with lime green reflections and opens with a corresponding clear and noble bouquet displaying white fruits, lemon juice and dashes of limes, nuts, flowers, herbs, brioche and crushed limestones. On the palate this is a light and highly elegant, finesse-full and delightfully fresh Champagne with a firm and persistent (mineral) length without getting big, dramatic or loud. This is a very distinguished, serious style of top class Champagne – a true classic you should not miss (at least at this price!). Le mousseux est très délicieux.

Oily, soil-inflected aromas of flowers, caraway seed and tropical fruit. Big, rich, nutty and fresh, with a lovely suave texture; a harmonious, medium-bodied wine with a firm acid structure lifting the flavors. Complicating yeast autolysis notes add to its complexity. Vibrant, quite dry and long on the finish. A terrific showing today, and approachable now.

  • Deutz Brut Classic NV (6x75cl)

The NV Brut Classic is a pretty, entry-level wine. Warm, generous fruit comes together beautifully in this rich, expansive, mid-weight Champagne. Like all Deutz Champagnes, it undergoes full malolactic fermentation. This is Lot LB1100D0169, disgorged January, 2009.

  • Deutz Cuvee William Deutz 1990 (1x0cl)

    Vinous (89+)

Complex nose combines high-pitched lemon drop and candied lime notes with lower-toned, toffeed suggestions of yeast autolysis. Very dry and assertive in the mouth, with a strong spicy character. Offers excellent flavor intensity with no excess weight. Youthfully fresh, minerally and still evolving. Would make a perfect accompaniment to raw shellfish. Also tasted: NV Brut Classic*.
  • Deutz Cuvee William Deutz 1996 (1x150cl)

    Vinous (93)

Medium straw. Captivating aromas of beeswax, smoked meat, truffle, poached pear and ripe fig. Broad and fleshy on the palate, with a deep, smoky quality along with apple pie, lavender and subtle brown sugar flavors. As ripe and round as this may be, it's also precise and focused. Finishes with very good concentration. Should reward cellaring.
  • Deutz Cuvee William Deutz 2002 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

Predominantly made from Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and a little bit of Pinot Meunier, the 2002 Cuvée William Deutz Brut Millésimé is another highlight of the estate, if not the appellation. The bouquet of this Millésime is bright, very clear, fresh, aromatic and complex, whereas on the palate this is the quintessence of finesse, subtlety, purity and elegance. Sure, this is a structured wine, but it is made like a perfectly shaped antique Greek statue or a jewel. Everything here is perfectly interwoven and nothing stands out except the whole composition, which is perfectly balanced. The bouquet shows finest caramel and spicy oak notes along with white flowers and fine fruit flavors, whereas the palate of this medium-bodied and linear wine is firmly structured, fresh and absolutely delicate. The finish is pure and elegant, as well as complex and long. I would drink this outstanding champagne for its own merits.

    The Champagne Guide (98)

65% Pinot mostly from Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay and Verzenay; 32% chardonnay mostly from Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger; 3% meunier mostly from Pierry; 9.5g/L dosage. The finest vintages of William Deutz display profound contrasts and contradictions, juxtaposing the exacting precision of the house with the intensity of the pinot noir, and it is in the most energetic vintages that this accord finds its most alluring expression. No season exemplifies this more magnificently than 2008. It is built around depth and breadth, charged with an incredible display of the freshness of Deutz, and elevated and energised by ulta-fine, chalk-rich minerality that attains new heights of expression in this profound season. For all of its contrasts, it crucially maintains seamless persistance and breathtaking lightness. Youthful endurance is declared in vibrant lemon zest and young summer-fruit freshness, quietly touched with depth of brioche, ginger, vanilla nougat and toast. A prominent, mouth-enveloping, silky cloud of chalk dust is the grand highlight of a mesmerising finish, riding a laser-line of acidity of the utmost elegance. In a full bottle, it will live for decades, but in a half, it's irrestible right away. One of the greatest Deutz cuvees of the modern era.

The 2012 Brut Millésimé William Deutz La Côte Glacière is a Champagne of real substance and textural depth. All of the richness of Aÿ comes through in an expansive, resonant Champagne loaded with character. The flavors are rich and more burnished with Pinot character than in the brighter Meurtet bottling. Spice, leather, dried herbs and sweet plum fruit build over time. This is a fabulous showing from Deutz.

  • Deutz Hommage a William Deutz Cote Glaciere 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

Deutz’s 2015 Brut Millésimé William Deutz La Côte Glacière is redolent of chalk, white pepper, mint, citrus and ripe pear. A wine of notable aromatic brightness, the Côte Glacière exudes tons of mineral inflections. Linear, bold and explosive in its sheer power, the Côte Glacière is wonderfully finessed and precise within the context of the year. There are no strong vegetal 2015 notes here. Even so, I would prefer to drink it on the early side, just to be on the safe side.

The 2012 Brut Millésimé William Deutz Pinot Noir Meurtet, from vines in Aÿ, is bright, floral and beautifully lifted. The richness of the year becomes evident as the wine sits in the glass. • Deutz Hommage a William Deutz Meurtet 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (91)

The 2015 Brut Millésimé William Deutz Meurtet is pretty tightly wound at this stage. It will be interesting to see what time brings here. Like so many 2015s, the Meurtet is marked by slight vegetal notes that are likely to become more pronounced over time. Because of that, I would prefer to drink it on the young side, even if the wine is not especially forthcoming. Dried pear, brioche, sage and mint linger. Texturally, the 2015 is a very pretty wine. Only the slightly clenched finish and that vegetal quality give me reason to pause.
