The 2020 Latour-Martillac has an impressive, quite engaging bouquet with blackberry, incense, graphite and faint touches of black olive. This is very harmonious and well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, very well balanced, quite saline with a poised and quite persistent finish. Quintessentially Pessac-Léognan, this has a bright future ahead.HK$1,345.00 -

The 2017 Latour-Martillac Blanc is powerful and quite dense in the glass, with tons of structure that gives the wine its distinctive, almost phenolic feel. Orchard fruit, citrus and floral notes develop with air, but it is the wine's sheer power that stands out most.HK$1,885.00 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (94)
The 2020 Latour-Martillac Blanc has shut down since tasting from barrel, yet it opens with yellow plum, jasmine and light frangipane scents. I admire the precision here. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite taut and well defined. Real precision on the finish that drags you back for one more sip. This is a classy dry white Bordeaux that will give immense pleasure over a number of years.HK$1,580.00 -

The 2021 Latour-Martillac Blanc has a knockout nose with apple blossom, nettle, wet pavement and citrus peel aromas. Real energy here. The palate is well balanced with fine concentration, taut and fresh with plenty of extract, touches of spice emerge towards the finish. Excellent.HK$1,320.00 -
True connoisseurs will rejoice in the discovery of the exquisite Laubade Armagnac Vintage 1937. Crafted in the historic Gascony region of France, this spirit encapsulates the rich heritage of the producers, Laubade, who have been distilling unique vintages since 1820. The Laubade Armagnac Vintage 1937 is a marvellous representation of the meticulous art of aging, showcasing refined complexity and depth that only the passage of decades can impart. Aged in 400-year-old oak barrels, its distinctive bouquet of dried fruits, spices, and a hint of rancio is an ode to Gascony's traditional distillation methods. A smooth palate reveals notes of prune, walnut, and old leather, leading to a lingering, warming finish. An unparalleled gem for ardent spirits collectors, Laubade Armagnac Vintage 1937 is a rare and coveted treasure of the Armagnac world.

A bouquet of ripe cherry, blackcurrant and rich soil, framed by new wood, precedes an elegant, full-bodied and expansive wine with a detailed, fine-grained chassis of rich tannin, superb mid-palate depth, and an energy and sappiness to its core of fruit that bodes well for the long term. Like the Latricières, this may flesh out more during élevage, but it is already appreciably more integrated and complete.HK$24,060.00 -

A rich purple in colour. The bouquet does not deliver much as yet but the fruit is so seductive at the front of the palate, though still very unresolved further back with fresher tannins which still need time to integrate. I expect the 2022 Chambertin to have excellent keeping qualities. Drink from 2035-2045+. Tasted: November 2023.HK$20,900.00 -

Very juicy but with real class and lift. Nicely judged with proper climat expression. Builds on the finish. Serious wine – as well it might be at this price! Very long with raciness.HK$16,100.00 -

The 2021 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a strict, stony and quite austere nose in the positive sense of that word. There is fruit here—damsons—yet it is tightly coiled and will require time to unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Very well-judged acidity, focused with neatly integrated oak, builds in the mouth towards a seductive but classical finish with hints of cracked black pepper and clove that linger on the aftertaste. Atypical for the vintage insofar as it seems to come from a warmer season. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.HK$27,580.00 -

The 2017 Pommard Clos Blanc 1er Cru has a clean, precise bouquet of blackberry, briary and wild hedgerow scents, the oak nicely integrated. It’s quite reduced at present, though that should blow off. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy, with supple tannins and touches of white pepper, clove and Chinese five-spice, leading to a harmonious and quite powerful finish. Yes, a bit brutish, but it should improve with bottle age. Closure is Diam 5. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.HK$5,195.00 -

The 2021 Pommard Clos Blanc 1er Cru has an attractive nose with wild strawberry and raspberry, clean and nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins, quite crisp and focused with a powdery finish. Drink over the next 5-8 years.HK$8,155.00 -

The 2016 Pommard Les Chaponnières 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with crushed strawberry and light undergrowth aromas, becoming earthier with aeration. Moderate vigour. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly tough tannin on the entry, but redeemed by fine salinity and a harmonious, classically-lined finish with just the right amount of dryness. Fine. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure)HK$5,435.00 -

Raised in 30% new wood and 70% 1 year old. Solid purple with medium depth. The nose starts on the oak and soon moves to the fruit. Very succulent again, smoothly balanced with a firm grip to the tannins. Yet it is suavely put together. High class, and it certainly has the length. Tasted: October 2019HK$3,185.00 -

The 2020 Pommard Les Chaponnières 1er Cru has a lovely nose with fresh cranberry, wild strawberry and is almost pastille-like in terms of its purity. The palate has a fleshy and quite concentrated opening, very harmonious with Volnay-like density and sensuality. Irresistible.HK$6,735.00 -

The 2021 Pommard Les Chaponnières 1er Cru is more successful on the nose than the Perrières with pleasant brambly red fruit and loamy scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a sour cherry tinged entry. A light Pommard with a slightly gourmand, cereal finish. Early drinking.HK$6,410.00 -

A fine mid ruby colour. The bouquet has both charm and density in a very happy balance. A lovely aftertaste of soft strawberry and fresh raspberry, the graceful side of Pommard with the tannins nicely covered. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted: November 2023.HK$5,275.00 -

An even deep purple. The bouquet is a little less exuberant than the Perrières, but still builds in intensity. The fruit profile is similar but with more refinement and some dark cherries. Useful acidity, refined tannins, fine persistence. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$3,985 - HK$4,865

The 2021 Pommard Les Rugiens-Bas 1er Cru is Horiot's most satisfying aromatics from this appellation with raspberry, dark cherry and light floral scents. This has much more lift than the others. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fresh acidity, taut and linear with a slightly savoury finish. Not a big Pommard but it opens nicely in the glass.HK$7,040.00 -
Wine Advocate (86-88)
The 2015 Pommard Les Perrières has quite a rich bouquet with touches of fig infusing the kirsch and cassis aromas. The palate is sweet on the entry with bold tannin, moderate complexity with a firm, slightly confit-like finish that needs to muster a little more precision. Not bad, although maybe just picked a day or two too late? Let's see.HK$2,745.00
