There is again a gorgeous mouthfeel to the middleweight flavors that are refined, even classy, on the youthfully austere, balanced and lingering finish that is highly complex. Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)
70% whole bunch with minimal punch down to avoid the wine becoming too muscular. Even so, the 2023 Genavrières has a noticeably darker purple colour with ruby rim. There is possibly an even greater volume of fruit here than my usual favourite of Faconnières, with summer pudding black fruits and a fresher redcurrant note to join in. Drink from 2032-2038. (from vines in Les Chenevery, Très Girard and Les Cognées, the latter site on the other side of the Route Nationale; 80% vendange entier; also harvested after the rain): Higher-pitched on the nose than the Rue de Vergy, offering scents of kirsch, violet and minerals. Juicier in the mouth too, displaying good penetration but modest flesh to its black fruit and violet flavors. The slightly drying finish hints at bitter chocolate.HK$750.00 -

Beautiful notes of cassis, tobacco, leafy herbs, and damp earth all flow to a medium-bodied 2017 that shows the more elegant, straight style of the vintage.
