From both sides of the village, all destemmed, still in barrel, 20% new wood. Dark in colour with a suggestion of reduction on the nose. An even medium deep fruit on the palate, dark raspberry, quite elegant even, and certainly a clean finish. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted: December 2023.HK$2,785.00 -

(this comes mostly from the Vosne side of the commune and in particular from Aux Allots, Les Lavières, Les Argillats, Aux St. Julien, Petite Charmotte and les Herbues plus Plantes au Baron in Prémeaux). A subtle but not imperceptible application of wood can be found on the red berry and earth aromas that display a note of crushed herbs. Despite not being particularly dense, the middle weight flavors exhibit good power on the austere, firm and serious finale. This is very Nuits in style and a wine that’s going to require at least some patience.HK$2,545 - HK$3,110

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)
Though the grapes are purchased, the Marchand-Tawse team are responsible for the viticulture here, so it is effectively but not officially a domaine wine. Picked late in the piece, on 24th September, and vinified with 60% whole bunches, the Petite Charmotte is still in barrel with 30% new. A pretty pink ruby colour, extremely cheerful bouquet, whole bunch on the later picked fruit seems to have worked well. White pepper at the finish. Nothing forced, very harmonious, a little darker fruit but classy. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$4,170.00 -

Bright ruby. Vibrant, spice-accented aromas of raspberry and cherry liqueur, incense and pungent flowers are accompanied by a smoky mineral nuance that builds in the glass. Deep-pitched yet impressively lively as well, offering intense red and dark berry liqueur and floral pastille flavors that stain the palate and show superb clarity and minerally lift. Closes extremely long, focused and lively, with silky tannins framing the wine’s sweet fruit. This is about as good as a "basic" Châteauneuf gets.HK$1,865.00 -

Dark red. Extravagant, superripe nose combines strawberry, raspberry, roasted game, gingerbread and molasses. Huge and dense, with powerful extract and compellingly sweet strawberry, raspberry and spice flavors. Full-blown Chateauneuf that almost magically maintains its freshness and balance. Like a solid on the slow-mounting, compellingly sweet aftertaste. This has blossomed spectacularly since I tasted it in barrel last November.HK$16,290.00 -

Offers a deep well of succulent, fleshy fig, boysenberry, plum and raspberry fruit, while notes of fruitcake, red licorice and singed apple wood remain prominent. A stunner, presenting a combination of depth, breadth and poise. Best from 2016 through 2035.HK$920.00 -

This has always been one of the best examples of Margaux during its period of mediocrity. Too light for a wine of first-growth standards, it has continued to exhibit some of the fabulous fragrance for which Margaux is famous. Soft, round, fruity flavors are suggestive of herbs, cedar, mushrooms, plums, and caramel. Fully mature, this wine should be drunk up. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/91.HK$6,695.00 -

The 1982 Château Margaux is drinking beautifully today, bursting from the glass with aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, burning embers, loamy soil, dried flowers and subtle hints of cedar. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and complete, it's deep and concentrated, with terrific concentration, beautifully refined tannins and an elegant, harmonious profile. Of all the 1982 first growths, Château Margaux is arguably the least defined by the vintage and the most marked by site and style.HK$89,270.00 -
