Wine Advocate (93)The 2022 Anjou Blanc from Thibaud Boudignon reveals a perfumed, exotic bouquet with aromas of green mango, pineapple, pear and spices intertwined with a touch of toast. More depth and fleshier than the 2021, it’s medium-bodied, perfectly balanced with a seamless, layered texture and a delicately bitter finish. 30,000 bottles produced. |

Vinous (96)Move over Luther Vandross, Thibaud Boudignon is in town and the Clos de la Hutte makes you want to slow dance with it. The 2020 is a wine that makes your shoulders drop such is its tranquility and sense of comfort in your mouth. It blooms in the mouth and does so without any sense of heaviness. The finish, scented with flowers and nectarines, is long, fragrant and textural. I hate using the word minerality as it means so many different things to people, but in my opinion, this has it in spades. It is incredible that the vines were only planted in 2011 on the schistous site on the grounds of a former monastery. Aged in larger format barrels, there's no sense of oakiness, allowing the purity of this wine to shine bright. |

Wine Advocate (97)Matured with 30% new oak, the 2021 Savennières Clos de la Hutte was made with grapes grown in clay topsoil with schists. It exhales a perfumed, precise bouquet with aromas of pineapple, lemon oil, spring flowers and spices. The full-bodied, seamless and layered, crystalline and pure, concentrated and mineral palate has a delicate core of fruit and a tense, saline finish. This pristine wine represents the essence of this great terroir. |

Vinous (97)It’s been less than a decade since Thibaud Boudignon left his day job at Domaine de la Soucherie in Savennières, but the clarity of his dry Chenins has created quite a buzz. The Clos de la Hutte, planted on schist, is his superlative white, but if you can’t get your hands on it, the Clos de la Fremine and La Vigne Cendrée parcels are within spitting distance. The rigorous attention to detail in both the vineyard and winery is clear in the glass. |

Vinous (91)Healthy medium red. Very ripe, pungent aromas of cassis, blackberry, coffee and mocha, with a suggestion of hard candy. Lush and silky-sweet in the mouth; not as complex as the Reas but boasts a wonderfully pliant texture and a very long, smoothly tannic finish. Incidentally, Thibault Liger-Belair believes that by vinifying the 2013 version of this wine with some whole clusters for the first time, he was able to build a longer and more vibrant wine. But this 2012 will please with its plushness. |

Burgundy | 4 | 89-92 (VN) | HK$8,130.00 | |||||
Vinous (89-92)(50% new oak; 25 hectoliters per hectare; destemmed owing to the flies): Healthy bright red. Slightly reduced aromas of dark cherry, spices and crushed rock lifted by a refined floral quality. Juicy, dry and very primary; this unforthcoming, rocky wine is hiding more than it's showing today. Best now on the perfumed, firmly tannic, lingering finish. All in reserve. The Gruenchers finished its malolactic fermentation very late and like some of the following wines it may not be racked until after the winter, with the bottling taking place as late as June or July. |

Vinous (90-93)(40% vendange entier; 50% new oak; this wine was not made in 2016 owing to the frost): Bright, dark red. Terrific crushed-rock lift to the red berry and floral aromas. Suave and fine-grained on entry, then larger-scaled on the back half, opening out and building on the finish. Tannins are dusty and broad. Very shy now but leaves behind a lovely perfume in the empty glass. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)70% whole bunches, in the trimmed stem version. Dense black purple, and a very rich dark raspberry fruit with some black cherry. Almost exaggerated but in fact not. Thibault notes that elements of finesse became apparent later in the vinification rather than at the start which is interesting. Work at the end paid off. This becomes so much more stylish than one could imagine from the initial attack. Long classy and charming. |

Vinous (92)The 2015 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru has a ripe, earthy, mushroom-tinged bouquet with plenty of red fruit, slightly savory in style. The palate is well balanced and full in the mouth. This is a voluminous and prodigious Corton but manages to retain fine balance, with satisfying purity and tension on the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. |

Vinous (91)The 2018 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru showed a slight reduction on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, quite firm and masculine, with crisp tannins and dried blood and black pepper toward the finish. Grippy and quite savory at the moment, this is a robust Corton-Renardes that will require bottle age to shave its corners. A bit "rough" and needs to manifest more refinement. |
